this was a great cooking video! one small gripe though, the map of china you showed at 0:22 contains taiwan even though it is not part of china (mapo tofu is still popular here in taiwan where i live, though, and i like it)

I've always been disappointed in the taste of store-bought beef jerky. I guess I should really try making it myself to see what the fuss is about. Also if your channel grows and you decide to invest in it, the first upgrade should definitely be a better mic. :)

it's definitely worth the time and effort to make for yourself, and the mic is first on my list as soon as I get my first youtube dollar, thanks for watching!

can you use a chuck roast? that would be cheaper still and more chewy?
@davemakesfood3 ай бұрын
chuck has a large amount of intramuscular marbling which isn't great for jerky because the fat reduces the shelf life. however, if you enjoy eating the unrendered fat (some people do, some people don't), store it in the fridge and consume it within a week or two it will be fine. thanks for watching!

How much did 5 hours of electricity run ya? Likely not much but still a cost factor (that won't change the fact making it yourself is cheaper than buying.) Great video. I loved making homemade jerky but I ran into an issue.... It takes five hours to make, and one hour to eat, lol
@davemakesfood3 ай бұрын
luckily my electricity is included in rent so that's not an issue, and I know what you mean - this batch is already almost gone...thanks for watching!
