What is the point of posting your work online than for advertising purposes on what you can do. If they like the image a lot, they'll purchase a print without the logo. If they like it but not enough to buy it, they'll save it and probably post is as their desktop background, and if they see what an awesome photographer you are, they'll want to hire you. In every case, the logo doesn't distract or ruin whatever the intention of the three situations I mentioned.. only situation that the logo ruins things for are mainly thieves. I dabble in photography every now and then, so I'm no pro, but never did a watermark make me turn away from someone's photography.. in fact as an artist, I understood why they have it.

I totally disagree. I see where you're coming from in this video for the specific work you're talking about, but as a photo manipulator, when I send the final image to a client, I'm slapping a great big complicated watermark all over the image so they have no choice but to pay me if they want the unwatermarked image.

100% DISAGREE as most, with this opinion. Its the only advertising I get, and the only way artists know who took the photos I took of them when they circulate as I do a lot of event and concert photography and have had the artist look for me and found me because of the logo to thank me for the awesome shots of them at the show. And my experience is the OPPOSITE with getting eyes by the watermark, its got me most of my work. But understanding this click bait based platform I get it gotta throw a stupid argument out to get everyone to disagree with and thoroughly disprove.

So, you are telling me that Coca Cola should not put labels on their bottles, because people know the taste, and also we pay for the cola? People know Coca Cola, people know Nike, Adidas, Apple, Samsung- but they still put their logo on their products. It is part of something called "branding." My photos are my product, why won't I want to put label on my product?

Totally disagree.....not your best effort here....just uplioaded 1500 photos of a horse event and put my WM on all of them so people can't download and print the photos....you are so wrong here...

What about when I signed a client many photos. But the price we agreed upon only includes five. And any additional photos on upcharge. Then they get all those photos for free and I don't make any money

Useless video.. maybe you didn't know how to make a proper one. There are some videos out here that make superior DIY vflats than the original vflats and are more durable. If you see the reviews of original vfkats you will see a letter from vflat world reps thar the vflats are not designed to last longer than 6 months. Seriously $400 for foam boards that don't last longer than 6 months?? I will watch a better video

ah ha. I have been using magnets taped on the wall and using mated magnets for attaching my backdrops. I guess I was on the right track.

I had a band save my images off Facebook. They posted and did not link me in any of the photos then tagged the wrong photographer in another. Things like that are the only reason im considering a watermark.

That idea is GENIUS!!!! 😃👊 TIP: With the metal clamp clips, 1 of 2 things can help (they’re so cheap & easy to find everywhere in various sizes so worth doing IMO, even to have as backups).. If using fabric backdrops or when denting isn’t an issue, you can deliberately pull those rubber ends off & reapply them with a dab of glue so loosing the tips won’t be an issue If denting is an issue, you can buy rolls of foam tape super cheap, or even those tiny “foam craft squares/dots” (sometimes sold as “photo squares/dots”) & add some on the inside of the teeth as a buffer. Just read carefully when buying foam tape options. Be sure to buy single-side adhesive ones, not double sided adhesive & also check the thickness too, there’s lots of thicknesses. Don’t want it so thick it’s a struggle to get your backdrops in & out or so thin it’s useless after a few uses

the water mark is a deterrent. Of course locking your door doesn't save you completely but it takes more energy to break down that door and people are lazy always taking the path of least resistance. If they took the time to take into photoshop for a bit, then let em have it I guess...

Yeah i dont watermark anything other than my realestate images before the client pays for it then its removed.

For artistic photos, a watermark is a good idea like a signature on a piece of art. For professional advertising photos, no watermark needed, or don't use them on services that don't want them like some Print by Demand options.

Mate how about don't try tell people what to do you legit just had a watermark on the start of your video 😅😅
