Killing a former king who'd do anything for his people but this fate was more tragic than anything and the bug to blame for all this is a silk moth named radiance causing others to be infected with their minds no longer intact making the entirety of hallownest... MINDLESS the kingdom truly had a tragic fate

Everyone talking about how this theme is really depressing, to me on the contrary it was the theme of like do or die detwrmination, like yes its absolutely emotional but ot marks the moment that all three siblings have united, the hollow knight slowly fighting back its mind's captor, hornet patiently waiting for the moment to strike with the deadly precision only she can muster, and the ghost, dream nail in hand, ready to end it all. Its like the grisly determination of a suicide mission, all three preparing to die to save their kingdom (remember, hornet knew she couldnt survive in there long cause shes not made of void, only survived because the black egg was omlet'd)

It's just an animation, and even hitting them when they do that only deals 1 damage, no matter how strong your nail is.
