I have the fzs 150 cc, probably it is the same bike as yours, but the way smaller version one. I live in Indonesia, regulation here really dictates how much cc you can have. However, all that you say about your bike, the flat spot around 6k rpm, clunky gearbox, my bike has it too. Maybe I'll buy the same bike as yours if I find one to level up

Hi, full faired bike are usually better at high speed when it comes to wind resistance. Really does depend how fast though. Personally I found it no problem up to 90mph when you start going over that then the wind is strong but didnt experience any speed wobble till around 125 mph. I had a small flyscreen which may have helped. It all depends on what you want the bike for and how long you plan on staying at speed. Hope this has helped. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Hi sorry about the late reply. Honestly it's hard to say because everybody is built differently. I would suggest finding a few bikes that tick everything else off your list e.g. mpg , engine size . You might have hard luggage you already own and are hoping it will fit ect. Then you can either test ride or atleast sit on the bike before you buy it. If you can't there is a website for motorbike ergonomics where you can put your height and it will show a figure of similar size on the bike you pick. Anymore questions don't hesitate. Hope that helps

hi sorry about the late reply, my inseam is slightly longer than yours but im slightly taller. my brother is around 6ft so similar height, the screen makes a slight difference it more moves where the wind hits. you can buy bigger screen which would make more of a difference. I found the bike quite a good size much more comfortable than the z1000, could do with more padding on the seat if your using for long journeys.best advice would be sitting and maybe doing a short ride on one as you might be more flexible or built differently to me. either way is a solid bike.hope this helps let me know if you have anymore questions. thanks for subscribing!

It’s the heaviest bike I ever rode and that’s why I find it hard turning at low speeds. I’m still trying to find the tipping point/how far I can lean but I don’t want fall and damage the bike.

if your in the UK then you'll do some training and stuff first so you wouldn't be completely new. I know someone who's first bike was the z1000 and they were fine. I think it depends on the person and how you ride it. if you jump on it and straight away try to get your knee down in corners then you will probably wreck your bike, if your slightly more sensible then anyone can learn to ride any bike, there are a lot easier bikes to learn on but if you take your time and don't go too fast for what you can handle. maybe get some crash bungs/ bars so if you do take a slow fall you don't ruin your paint. if your not in the UK then I would suggest taking it to a car park or something and just practicing for abit to build up confidence. anymore questions feel free

Subb’d just about to do my mod two and have decided an FZ6 is going to be my 1st bike.. pondered er6’s and sv650’s but at my budget (looking to spend around 2kish) the FZ6 seems to be the best value for money.. don’t want a shed as I’ll be commuting during the week so has to be reliable and don’t want to go into too much debt on a 1st bike as I will inevitably make mistakes and dropping a 5k MT07 or similar is going to hurt in many ways... which brings me to my question. These FZ6’s seem quite rare. Are they difficult to pick up spares for?
@noskillsonwheels9298
@noskillsonwheels9298 5 жыл бұрын
hi good luck with the mod 2 that's the easiest one in my opinion. a lot of the engine parts are similar to an r6 as its petty much the same engine. the parts are around but I guess it depends what your looking for. luckily the fz6 and the fz6 s2 are very similar so depending on what part they might be interchangeable. you'll definitely find more parts for the sv650 but I think the fz6 it better. think the er6 are prone to rust like a lot of Kawasaki. this is just my opinion but when I owned one I didn't have any problems. anyore questions feels free and good luck!

The flat spot is a big part of this bikes character. It's part of what makes it special. It's Jekyll and Hyde. Day to day riding, highway and all it feels like any other 600-650 Sport Standard... the flat spot around 6k tells you to shift. One can spend 100% of their time on this bike riding below and in that flat spot with enough power to get around pleasantly. However, when you're hooning out the flat spot is the first place to get above and to not go below and the bike changes its sanity. You should know it goes mental. The FZ6 is still blowing away bikes in it's class today and can keep up with some of the larger displacement standards minus all of the fancy options and creature comforts. It's a great bike. I wouldn't recommend it to many new riders as a beginners bike. It can be a great beginner bike because of that flat spot and the lack of need to ever surpass it, but a prematurely confident rider can get into a lot of trouble on it real quick after they learn about the wild side of this machine. I say, for an adult getting into riding for the first time or getting back in the saddle it is an excellent choice as a bike to grow into responsibly or to kick off some of the rust. It's a death trap for the young brave noobs with no previous experience riding and who start attempting to conquer the road .

hi, im 6ft 4 and I don't think its too bad. The seat size is quite small as its got a separate pillion seat so my arse would end up in that gap sometimes. found it more comfortable than the z1000 that's for sure. best thing is to test ride or at least sit on one because you might have longer/shorter legs than me. For commuting I think its pretty good the range isn't to bad, its small/ agile enough to filter if needed. 100% beginner bikes are up to 125ccm. Since then it depends on the brains and strength of the person and I would highly not recommend going higher than 600/650. I know they made some changes from the fz6 to the fz6 s2, all bikes have a few issues but I only heard how reliable they are. its your choice after all and some people just get unlucky as with all bikes. hope this helped. anymore questions feel free!

I don't know if you have any cycling experience. My question is, do you think a competitor at cycling could be able to learn to maneuver a bike like the one you are reviewing here, fairly fast? I am thinking about using knee pucks in the corners and feel safe faster then a "normal person"?
@noskillsonwheels9298

cycling and riding a motorbike are very different. its a really good bike, stable at high speeds gave confidence in corners but the turn circle isn't too great but it depends what you wanting exactly . if you don't have much experience with motorbikes I would suggest testing a few because how people ride is different.

I think its a good bike I would suggest sitting on one as its quite a small bike and although I found it comfortable enough some people shorter than me found it uncomfortable but its personal preference maybe go to a dealer ship and pretend your gonna buy one. it gives you a lot of confidence and you can stand up easily. really depends on where you live and distance your gonna be travelling.

I know this was last year but.. Any idea what that fly screen is called? So hard to find fly screens for this unless attaching to handlebars. Edit: Should mention if anyone is looking at these, mileage for me is steady 160 miles per £20 (Of V Power), I can get 180 miles if I didnt speed.

Surprisingly not on a motorcycle. I actually feel out of a tree and landed one foot from about 8 foot up, I also don't drink alcohol so it was a sober silly moment. wont be able to put weigh on it for awhile unfortunately. A few people have offered me their bike for a test ride, I wont say what they are but one is a naked sports bike and the other is a mid range tourer.

Should I ride in higher gear to lower the rpm for better fuel economy? ?
@noskillsonwheels9298

personally I do mostly when i'm gonna be staying at a constant speed. If your travelling a long way saving fuel is always good. I find it makes the engine less buzzy aswell so a bit more comfortable. Hope that helps, anymore questions feel free.

Thanks for the review and also your comments about naked with screen versus faired. I'm currently learning to ride on a XJ6 which I believe is a similar bike. Naturally when I'm not having a lesson I'm all over the classifieds! I'm on a budget and this bike is currently too much for me so I'm wondering how it compares to a Suzuki Bandit 600 from about 2000 or so.
@noskillsonwheels9298
@noskillsonwheels9298 6 жыл бұрын
The xj6 is a good bike to learn on anyway that's what I did my training on , some people learn on really light bikes which I think is a bad idea. honestly there both good solid bikes the old and new versions can always find plenty of parts and usually reliable. I will always say the FZ6 is better but I may be biased. best thing you can do is research really. my first bigger bike was actually a honda hornet 600 so we all have to start somewhere, aslong as your happy with the bike that's all that matters and once you have money and experience you can then move on to the bike you really want. if you want to know power wise then the FZ6 is abit more powerful but best thing you can do is test ride and decide for yourself. sorry for lengthy reply let me know if you have more questions ill be happy to help!

Do you do any motorway riding on this? I'm wondering if the Fazer variant is worth the extra coin...
@noskillsonwheels9298
@noskillsonwheels9298 6 жыл бұрын
yeah I used to do motorways regularly obviously mine was naked but with a flyscreen and it handled it just fine, doesn't offer as much protection as the more faired version would but you get what you expect . cant say much about the faired version I didn't ride it for long but I think the fazer is a great bike because of the sports tourer side. hopefully that answered your question if not let me know.
@caspar4121
@caspar4121 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Fazers seem great, look a bit better too in my opinion. But are they worth the extra €500 or more sellers ask for them, I think not. FZ6N with a flyscreen (the Ermax one looks amazing) might be my next bike then. I'll have to test ride both after I pass my full A license test (currently on A2). :)
@noskillsonwheels9298
@noskillsonwheels9298 6 жыл бұрын
i prefer the naked one myself as well, the ermax flyscreen makes it look so much better. its always worth test riding and it was the first bike I kept for more than 2 years and still liked it. full license changes everything the trick is not to go straight for a 1 litre because then you cant really upgrade. anymore questions I'm happy to help. Thanks for watch aswell.

Ayip, it would be a shame if I spoiled myself so early with a litre bike haha. Coming of an XF650 (1 cyl, 48bhp), the FZ6 will already be quite a different animal. The more I look at the FZ6N S2, the more I fall in love with it. I want it. Ugh, soon. Thanks for responding! Did you sell yours?

its definitely a worth while bike you will definitely enjoy it! yeah unfortunately I did I had an accident and then I lost my job so decided to downsize for abit while I don't need it for a long commutes. still wouldn't hesitate to get another one I really loved the bike! it will be different to the XF650 but the FZ6 is still comfortable so you wont loose to much of that.

Would you recommend this as a beginners bike? I have riden scooters before but want to go to the gears for longer rides. I'm not too keen with gears
@noskillsonwheels9298
@noskillsonwheels9298 6 жыл бұрын
its quite aggressive compared to a scooter, I would suggest a test ride first to make sure its comfortable for you and the throttle is quite sensitive so may not be ideal for a new rider. its still a very good bike but if your not keen on gears might be worth considering something more forgiving. any more questions feel free to ask!

NoSkillsOnWheels I know about the throttle response it is high, I have got rides on it as a pinion rider. Im not a fast rider though like taking my time. With the gear bike I only have problem getting to move out but once I'm going I change the gears
@noskillsonwheels9298
@noskillsonwheels9298 6 жыл бұрын
tbh this bike is definitely angled towards faster riding which makes it feel quite rigid. There are plenty of amazing bike to start on anyway so even if the z750 doesn't work for you, you have plenty of options. its still a great bike but if I didn't want to ride fast I would look for maybe a sports tourer so you get extra comfort.

No. Why do people keep asking this question? Do not get a 490 lb, 100 hp motorcycle for your first one. Stay under 450 lbs. And make sure you can plant most of your feet on the ground. :)
