Thanks for making this video. I walked past a small obelisk in Chester by chance the other day. It was placed there in 1893 by a lady called Nessie Brown at the site where George Marsh was burned at the stake for his unwavering faith in God and his steadfast commitment to the Bible. What an inspiring man, whose passionate life we need to celebrate and remember, together with the hundreds of other clerics who suffered the same way during the reign of Queen Mary 1 between 1553-1558.

A horrendous end to a good man, I've been to the memorial in Boughton and sat near by imagining the suffering of George Marsh and all the other unfortunate people who met their end there. This documentary makes it all the more moving, I will visit again now I know more about this saintly man and remember him, as once again I sit by the site of his early unjust death.

The Church of England still holds fast to trans substantiation along with many Catholic false teachings 'inspired by demons'. I admire the bible loving 'heretics', many like George were burned at the stake. The freedom to preach and teach (except in a church) was largely prohibited even 130 or more years later, as with John Bunyan
@SimonPeterSutherland
@SimonPeterSutherland Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. When Marsh stood trial in 1554-55 the doctrine of transubstantiation was usurped in the Church of England because of the Pope. However when Mary Tudor died and Elizabeth 1 ascended to the throne the 39 Articles of Religion were re-established and the reformed position was upheld. That position continues to be official Church of England doctrine. I'm afraid you are either misinformed or otherwise. The Church of England does not believe in transubstantiation. The CofE believes the doctrine of transubstantiation cannot be proven by Scripture and does not transform into the bread and the wine. Articles of Religion, 1562 XXVIII. OF THE LORD'S SUPPER "THE Supper of the Lord is not only a sign of the love that Christians ought to have among themselves one to another; but rather is a Sacrament of our Redemption by Christ's death: insomuch that to such as rightly, worthily, and with faith, receive the same, the Bread which we break is a partaking of the Body of Christ; and likewise the Cup of Blessing is a partaking of the Blood of Christ. Transubstantiation (or the change of the substance of Bread and Wine) in the Supper of the Lord, cannot be proved by holy Writ; but is repugnant to the plain words of Scripture, overthroweth the nature of a Sacrament, and hath given occasion to many superstitions. The Body of Christ is given, taken, and eaten, in the Supper, only after an heavenly and spiritual manner. And the mean whereby the Body of Christ is received and eaten in the Supper is Faith. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was not by Christ's ordinance reserved, carried about, lifted up, or worshipped."

Sad that you and the world cannot see the true faith . Jehovahs Witnesses without doubt have the truth. Christ put to death on a staurus not a cross. Jesus resurrected Lazarus showing sating a time will come when all will hear my voice and come out . Showing a future global resurrection. We don't go to heaven like the anointed ones. The meek will inherit the earth and live forever on it. ?? We don't celebrate pagan celebrations like Xmas. Easter. We don't vote for politicians we don't puck up arms . We don't wear crosses or have images or statues in kingdom halls. By their works you will recognise them ! This good news of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world , JWS Only one's doing that. God's kingdom? Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth. His will was for man to live forever on earth and not die . That will will be fulfilled, theology all well and good but simplify it , man will live forever on a cleansed earth Jehovahs original purpose for man to live forever on earth. My parents are not in heaven but awaiting a global resurrection to live forever on earth . Pity people can't see this . Satan blinding the minds of many. Only 10 million in number but remember Jesus said broad is the road to destruction and many are on it .

@@SimonPeterSutherland obviously something is lost in translation LOL. Στην Πάφο meaning 'in Paphos' you would pronounce it (if u were a half Greek Cypriot raised in Paphos such I) as stin ba-fo. As in 'ba ba black sheep have you...' It's a heavy 'B' not a 'P' as in the word pathology. It's a pronunciation issue. May I suggest a nugget of a six part series The Aphrodite Inheritance. English production filmed in Paphos and other parts of Cyprus (but mainly Paphos). Stars Brian Blessed, filmed in 1978. It was a BIG thing in Cyprus at the time. They cast put on a show for the benefit of the townspeople at the harbour in Kato Paphos during the wine festival. I was there as an 8 year old and remember Brian Blessed.

@@goodgood9955 In New Testament studies the Greek Lexicons number Πάφος as G3974. In Strong's Concordance Paphos paf'-os , is "Of uncertain derivative; Paphus, a place in Cyprus: - Paphos". Whereas in Thayer's Lexicon, the definition is "Paphos = “boiling or hot” 1) a maritime city on the west end of Cyprus, with a harbour. It was the residence of a Roman proconsul. “Old Paphos” was noted for the worship and shrine of Venus (Aphrodite) and lay some 7 miles (10 km) to the south-east of it." Whichever way people around the world understand the pronunciation, Paphos is a lovely place and very important Biblically.
