I'm unsure, but either Charles Vincent or his brother also founded the long-defunct Vincent Organ Company in Sunderland. Their instruments are still found in many churches and chapels in the North East of England, where I reside. I remember that one of the first organ pieces I ever played ( many, many years ago !) was a very cheesey little prelude by Dr Vincent titled 'Andante'; this was also used as the theme music for the Light Programme's 'Chapel in the Valley' on Sunday mornings. ( Good grief, I'm showing my age !)

"There was a time when this type of composition was scorned by many [and indeed may still be by some] but it cannot be denied it has much to commend it." Not by me, Bramwell, not by me.

I have just obtained a copy of EHT's Postlude on Thornbury. Have you recorded it ?
@bramwellbourne11 күн бұрын
Yes I have. It's on my Facebook The Organ Music of Eric Thiman page. Be a couple of years or more back. I think it was before I started my KZbin channel. I'll look it out. Best wishes.
Very interesting to hear a Scottish tune with an Austrian accent! "Glasgow" is still in the Church Hymnary 4th edition ("CH4") so it's not completely forgotten unlike, say, "Dunblane Cathedral" which you recorded a while ago. Thanks for another fine video.

Here is what you are, Sir Bramwell. (Queen E2 left us a little too early and so did not quite get around to making the knighthood official. Damn. Secular version. "A gentleman and a scholar." (Am not sure if that exists in British English. It used to be said frequently with a certain dose of wit here in U.S.-America--lest the encouragement go to a boy's or young man's head. Seems to have gone extinct about 20 years ago. Alas. Theological version. A man of God. (Now. "Let all mortal flesh keep silence" I say--aka, don't you talk back to me. Capische? As an organist and therefore ordinary sinner, I am continually taught something by you, Bramwell. Thank you. Mark (Arizona)

Very well played! A beautifully rendition of a delightful piece. I love Rawsthorne - very accessible, especially for intermediate players like me who don't have hours to practise. The 36 Miniatures should be in every organist's bookcase!

What an excellent piece of music well played I believe the composer was a Norfolk man and organist at. Norwich Cathedral l believe he composed a hymn tune named after a village near Norwich called Kirbybedon.

Lovely to hear this on the organ. My old Secondary Modern School in Bournemouth fundraised for a similar organ in 1957. It had a lovely tone, and we had an excellent music master. Now in semi-retirement in PICTON, South Island, New Zealand.
