Great idea for the newer generation of Starlink dishes.... I have the older Gen 3 version (automatically locks onto satellites) on top of a Harbor Freight Telescoping flagpole. All you have to do is remove the decorative ball and drill out the top cap. The cap already has concentric circles marked on it, The second circle is the exact diameter or the Starlink attachment pole. So, I can use the factory push button to lock the dish into the flagpole. This winter, I'll be cutting the cord and adding his and her RJ45 connections to the rear mask by the trailer hitch in an weather tight box. I removed a shelf in the media cabinet (Unity MB)above the fuse block in order to stand the Starlink router up and the cable runs down into the cargo bay below and exits onto the ground.

Hi Sandra, Thanks for the Video. My stock 2014 LTV UTB front ceiling fan just went out and my question: is the MaxxAir 7000 a direct 14" replacement? I see Amazon has several Maxxair fans and I will get the same one as you did. The remote is not my first choice but people are saying the soft touch panels go out as they are not a sealed control unit, so maybe using the remote will save the push button model from breaking? Also the other models only have 4 speeds and only have the ability to blow air out. Finally, the Dicor you used did not seem too runny, was it the self leveling or non-leveling? Amazon wont ship the self leveling to California but they will ship the non-leveling. Thanks again for all you do!

Hi, the Orion XS manual (download from the Victron website) says under item: "3.1. Mounting • Mount vertically on a non-flammable surface, with the power terminals facing downwards. • For optimum performance, a minimum of 10cm (3.9 inches) space should be kept free around the product for cooling. With limited cooling, e.g. due to insufficient ventilation, the charging current will be reduced sooner than at the specified maximum ambient temperature. With improved airflow (e.g. forced airflow), the performance will greatly improve. • With limited cooling or extreme ambient temperature, the charger can become hot (especially the bottom plate). Due to internal temperature control, the bottom plate will never get warmer than 90 °C (194 °F); this is no problem for the charger. Make sure that the mounting surface can withstand this temperature. • Mount close to the battery but never directly above the battery (to prevent damage from gassing of the battery)" I always try to follow the directions explicitly with any electrical stuff, and especially pay attention to cable sizes used (considering not only Amp carrying capacity BUT ALSO *voltage drop* as it can add up over any long runs) and also QUALITY fuses rated to protect each wire used, or lower, if the component's directions call for it. I'm currently replacing ALL my system's fuses (damned Amazon BOJACK brand, shown by a solar guy on KZbin to not blow acceptably) with "supposedly genuine" Victron ones. Victron's are actually produced by "Littlefuse" so they're equal quality, in general. It's correct wire size and fuses which keeps the fires away! However, fire risk is also what makes me read every line of any directions first. Fire risk really scares me bad! I wish you luck and best safety!
@Jim_V.
@Jim_V. Ай бұрын
The man I mentioned previously who ran the MEGA FUSE TESTS; KZbin channel is named: "Cleaversolarpower by Nick" and they're "MEGA Fuses" tested, the kind I've been ordering cheap off Amazon previously (mostly BOJACK branded ones unfortunately). As of this writing (9/23/2024) "supposedly genuine" Victron MEGA fuses can be had from several vendors at typically "5 for around $22". (This didn't USED to be so) A good deal if they're actually manufactured by Littlefuse. Or at least approved by Victron in some way. Mine are coming from "Inverters-R-Us" as I sort of trust that seller. I've bought a lot of stuff from them both on and off (directly from their website) of Amazon with no problems. They ship from Reno, NV. Which is quick to me in S. California. That's always nice! Good Luck, And Safe Travels!
@SSTraveler-Sandy
@SSTraveler-Sandy Ай бұрын
@Jim_V. A fire isn't a possibility at 140°F, which is the highest temperature I saw the Orion-XS get. When I install things, I test them and observe them so I can learn and modify my approach if necessary. You have to have the knowledge, skill, and ability to understand the engineering behind the written words of a manual. Victron does say to mount their products vertically because that gives the best chance for heat to rise from their products. However, mounting things vertically isn't always possible, which is why Victron advises forced air flow cooling. So you can mount them horizontally if you increase air flow and ventilation. I had increased the ventilation of my seat base, which has kept my Kisae DC-DC charger operating below 100°F. So adding forced cooling with a fan has greatly improved the Orion-XS performance, and it's now staying below about 110°F. The heat produced by a single Orion-XS probably would have been acceptable, but it was impacting my Kisae DC-DC charger operation, and I couldn't have that. Now, using knock-off fuses and circuit breakers does set you up for a possible fire. Lots of people doing these upgrades for some reason cheap out when it comes to fuses and circuit breakers. I only use name brand fuses, Blue Sea, Littelfuse, Buss, Bussman, and Eaton. Victron fuses seem really cheaply made, and they have no markings on them as to who the manufacturer is, so I refuse to use Victron fuses. If you use knock off fuses, it begs the question of what other knock-off stuff you have in your electrical system. That's a scary thought from an electrical safety perspective. You probably need your "Wish for Luck and Best Safety" more than me. It sounds like you might have been lucky finding your knock-off fuse problem in time. I would take a heat gun to all your electrical connections and verify you don't have any other surprises lurking.
@Jim_V.
@Jim_V. Ай бұрын
@@SSTraveler-Sandy Heat gun check everything always and over build too. I don't mind spending extra money for quality. Would a 4 year in Theoretical Physics suffice? You're talking thermal radiation via air vs, thermal conduction through metal inside the XS. The longevity of the XS may suffer some but I agree I wouldn't worry about the difference. No Littlefuse manufactures Victron fuses. The only question is might "these" Victrons be faked. I bought supposed Littlefuse brand before at top market value. Those had no markings either. But you're right I buckled to the "Bojacks" simply because of the vast number of positive reviews. Can't trust reviews apparently no matter how many people vouch for a product. Blue Sea gouges on price of Bussman product same as Bussman themselves. A fuse isn't a terribly complex metal quality nor expensive piece of to manufacture. But I suppose if they make endless millions per year there's always someone wanting to capture the market through lowest price. It's really a commentary on how poorly the legal system functions as any check on the market and the difficulty of suing for damages, or even lives. But I suppose there's very little reach to everything being produced in China for several decades now. I would imagine even the more reputable names actually produce in China too. It's just they probably sample better for quality control. Yet it's noteworthy at least 2 cheap Chinese brands performed just fine in that man's sample size of n = 1. But, of course that applied to Bojack also. You wouldn't think any company would produce crappy fuses, yet of course some do. I just spent $70 for a simple main breaker a couple weeks ago by Blue Sea. It was the only one with the type of finger switch and rating so I absorbed the soaking. Yeah, paper even takes 451° F so no worries in your setup. I'm considering similar fans in an effort to maximize efficiency after once again reviewing Victron's advisory again. But seriously people and or companies need to be held accountable for something so vital as proper fuses and potential for loss of life. I suppose I over trusted "Bojack" as they simply "appear as" an American run company. I truly hated forking out $70 for that breaker. Nevertheless, the market bares it. And ya gotta pay to play.

@SSTraveler-Sandy
@SSTraveler-Sandy Ай бұрын
@fredzuccarelli With a Lithionics battery and a 2020 or newer LTV you don't have to change anything. You can reuse the inverter and battery cables and 250a inverter Mega Fuse in the battery box. upgrading to a Lithionics battery and 3000w inverter is a simple swap out of current batteries and 2000w inverter. A Lithionics battery is the most advanced and powerful battery you can buy plus with it's NeverDie Reserve it will never leave you stranded with a dead battery likecthe other brands will. From a DIY perspective a Lithionics battery makes for the easiest and more cost effective upgrade when you consider alk the extra knowledge, skill and labor required for others. A Lithionics battery also out performs morecthan 400a of the others. So You're not really saving anything by going with a different brand. in the end your going to spend more money and time trying to make something that seems less expensive work. Then to be disappointed with the other battery lack luster performance and to be left stranded when you accidentally completely discharged it. I see LTV folks installing Epoch, just make sure you replace all your inverter battery cables and coach battery cables with larger 4/0 awg as Epoch and Xantrex recommend. You could continue to use the 250a inverter Mega Fuse. If you want to go larger then you must use a new fuse and fuse holder, because the LTV Battery box Mega fuse block is only rated for 300a total combined fuse load. so it's 250a inverter fuse is already maxing out the 5 position fuse block given the sizes of the other fuses.

@hike9924 In my opinion the 2000w inverter is really inadequate, but its probably okay if your just using it for 30 minutes, short periods, here and there to run the Truma. In high summer temperatures you're really overloading inverter, batteries, and Truma because everything has to work harder. There's more resistance to overcome, which the 2000w inverter and batteries aren't able to do in high temperatures. Then the Truma has to run harder, which isn't good for any of them.

Was about to start on putting the Victron Orion under the seat when I saw this video. Where did they relocate the engine to house charger if not under the seats? I cannot return the Orion so I am seeking a way to still use it.

@dankohlhaas6845 If you have a 2022 or older LTV, one that has a Sterling DC-DC charger or an isolator solenoid then you can put the 18a Orion-Tr Chassis Battery charger under the passenger seat. Look through my videos I have a number of them where I installed the Xantrex ECHO-Charge under the passenger seat, the Orion-Tr can be installed using the same 3 wire setup as I use with the Xantrex ECHO charger. Here is one for the Orion-Tr, kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4vMmYuHoNBrirs.

Sandy may I ask......do you do these inverter and Li battery upgrades on the LTV's for owners on a regular basis? If you do, I would certainly be interested in hiring you to do mine!!!!! I appreciate your quality of work!!! Cheers, Freddy!

Terrific video Sandy! So informative. Just wish there was an installer somewhere in the West or SW.
