Some airfryers , different models of same brand have thermostat cutout that resets ..
@robrig16462 ай бұрын
This model was one-time fail and throw in the trash over-temp protection device. I'm guessing the MFG logic is, "If it over-temps, something's failed, it's going to over-temp again, it's a fire hazard, so permanently kill it, liability problem solved. Next!" Since fixing mine and putting up the video I've used the hell out of it, no problems.

@robrig1646 Yea.. I have fuse ordered but looking now I think change to thermal fuse was a quick fix for reason you said.. Corsori had massive recalland maybe it preempted change to fuse..... The whole thing is plastic box, so yea fail once, fail forever maybe was just their mind

If the fuse is burnt to were the specs cannot be read on it, how do you know what the proper thermal fuse specs are that should be ordered for your particular air fryer. Is there a resource somewhere that gives that info. I could not find the specs in the manual or on the Chefman website. My model is the same as yours (rj38-10-rdo-v2).

If you have teh same model, then get the same fuse I describe in the video (I can't recall what that was off the top of my head) I think I ordered some from Amazon?

Hey Rob you say you used purple Power so did you use water with it to clean it?
@seosamhmacgiollaphadraig21382 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the great vid Rob and all the detailed explanation. My unit was from the UK which included both a live and neutral fuse at the hot plate instead of the one live you had to replace. Maybe this is down to the higher voltage. I ordered 10A 250V 172℃ Temperature Fuse Thermal Fuse for Electric Pressure Cooker from eBay and it came with two red wire fuses. I initially only replaced the live thermal fuse but no joy. Then I tested the new fuse for current and the old one and the old one was indeed dead. Reckoned the neutral thermal fuse was gone as well. Tested that for current and it was, so I colour coded the second new thermal red wire fuse for blue and added it and presto. All good now. I think running this machine to its 60 minute limit is asking for trouble. Going to max it to 40 at the very most from now on.

Great presentation. Having just watched another video with a stuck open EGR valve (that was replaced) , I am left wondering why you didn't at check it and or clean it as well?
@robrig16462 ай бұрын
I cleaned my EGR system cooler, tubes, and valve a few months prior to cleaning the intake passages, didn't see any reason to pull those off and clean again. Having previously cleaned those parts and the roughness coming back is what lead me to pull the intake manifold and discover the passages blocked with crap
@bastian18472 ай бұрын
hey there, so far the thermal fuse reads fine, as does the door switch. I decided to test the thermal sensor and it comes back with resistance over limit, so I'm guessing this might be my problem. Given that, do you have any idea whyere I might be able to get a replacement, or find the model number for it?
@robrig16462 ай бұрын
Examine the sensor very closely and see what numbers or mfg logo/name is on it and Google search from there. I got my fuse number directly off the fuse, it took a bit of searching but I figured out what I needed. That's the best I can do to answer your question.

Glad you liked it. That was my intent, going into detail on ringing out the wiring and methodically checking things one at a time; people have a problem or read a code, go to Google, read somebody's comment where they say "I just changed part XYZ and it fixed my problem", so they go out and blow money on part XYZ, and it doesn't fix the problem. Even though it made for a longer video (I got complaints on that), I figured it wouldn't hurt to talk through all my symptoms (I know 'blah blah blah'), because other people will be looking for more info than just "my truck was running rough" or "makes a funny noise". I also discussed what was going though my head because with these problems we all have these 'why/what if/ maybe' type thoughts trying to get a grasp on the problem. Is it one thing? Multiple things? Bad gas? Full moon? Finally walking people through the troubleshooting/elimination process so they could better understand that it can be tedious and takes time to properly diagnose; there's quite a few 'wham bam thank you ma'am" videos that give people the impression that fixing engine problems on cars is easy. I'm not trying to throw shade on anybody for taking the time to make a video with the intent of helping others, it takes work, and they're not all bad, but somebody watching those videos who's having trouble fixing a problem may get discouraged because their car problem is kicking their ass and not as easy to solve as the video made it look.

Suggest removing egr valve and cooler. You use a pressure washer to clean cooler and intake. Just finished this job. Also, replace all rubber gaskets. Clear all fault codes and let car relearn.

thanks for the video, I am going to try this cleaning because my 2013 Auris Hybrid is jerking as soon as I accelerate on gas. Local Toyota dealership wasn't able to fix the issue, so I'll have to figure it out myself, and I am starting with this operation

@dmarinon4 ай бұрын
@@robrig1646 I did the job, EGR valve and especially the cooler were really dirty! But the issue was too much oil in engine, that screwed the spark plugs, that's why car was rattling (and shutting off) as soon as engine kicked in... I had to find out and fix it myself, idiots at Toyota never had a clue!
@robrig16464 ай бұрын
@@dmarinon That's good news. I replaced my original engine with a JDM engine. I tore down the old engine and found all the piston oil control rings clogged. I now make sure I change my oil every time the change oil light comes on regardless of the oil manufacturer's claims of "15,000 miles". I also started adding 8 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil at each oil change. You're probably still gonna get oil through the engine from the PCV system. My old engine was getting oil in the intake and new engine did the same, so I added an oil catch can between the PCV and intake manifold. If anything, start using Marvel in your oil, it'll help reduce and clean build up on the rings. It's pretty cheap preventive medicine.
