My 1999 2.8 Z3 carries electrics in the stem which operate the central locking on the car. This means it is not feasible to change to a non OEM mirror and retain the central locking, or am i missing something here?

great video, I am already deep in the money pit but now looking at this as cheap way to get out of it and sell the things that didnt work for me (Adapter and too big of mirror)

They make a adapter to attach to the BMW part that's glued to the windshield to allow you to use any bracket you want.

Yeah, and it's pricey.

Ive got a broken rear view mirror on my sisters BMW that is just hanging down. If you waited too long to move the clip after it was glued on, How would you fix that ? Heat gun ?
@robrig16463 жыл бұрын
Heat it

@@robrig1646 would it burn the glass if you wait too long ?

@@Sjrick search KZbin for videos showing how to remove the mirror mount bracket. You just apply heat to the metal plate, just long enough to soften the adhesive and pop the plate off the glass with a pair of pliers

@@robrig1646 I just got the car back today and as I looked at it closer, it turns out a giant chunk of glass was taken off when the mirror came off. Do you think some super glue would hold that in place ?
@robrig16463 жыл бұрын
@@Sjrick I doubt it, the adhesive used for the bracket is probably the best option.
