@RailwayWorld too many people paid and not received items and cannot contact them later. A small handful who did get something said they were not impressed so I left well alone. The cattle wagons are 3D prints from someone who designed and made for himself and did a few spare bodies for me, there are two more nearly ready. The horse box is a 3D print from Shapeways before they went into receivership or whatever. Both designs are on Hornby underframes.

@RailwayWorld it really is great, some people have had issues but I have had these since Dec 2022 when first sold and not had one issue with them. I am British outline only and have no interest in anything foreign although I did have an Arnold 2-10-2 which I used as a chassis for my 9F. It is still limited availability but Hornby have done well getting what they have in just 2 years and with Peco wagons and revolution developing a wagon for next year it is doing well.

I like the traditional tension couplings. Simon Kohler said Hornby had considered using these, but decided against it to maintain compatibility with continental models. I think this would only apply if you were modelling Channel Tunnel freight! There is quite a lot of interest in TT:120 in Germany, so Hornby has an eye on that market. Thanks for uploading.
@garryhall5552Ай бұрын
@AllensTrains I know one or two people have some continental wagons on their layout but most of it is wrong scale wise. Both Hornby and Europeans use 120 buy with the European loading gauge larger than the British one their wagons are too big. For wagons to run on our tracks some wagons were built smaller to our loading gauge and have some designated mark on them. Even in days of steam, the Night Ferry sleeper had so many sleepers specially built smaller to cross the channel.

@@garryhall5552 The continental standard is called "Berne Gauge". There are loading gauge restrictions within Britain. A Eurostar can't go to Eastbourne!

@AllensTrains sorry about your eyesight, that is always something I worry about. Mine is not so good now with my glasses making a 6" ruler looking curved.

When lines that you know to be straight appear to be curved, then that's a known symptom of the initial onset of macular disease! I recommend you go to the optician and get him to refer you for an OCT at the hospital. This condition can be counteracted with regular injections.
@garryhall5552Ай бұрын
@AllensTrains I think we may be at crossed purposes here. I get my eyes scanned and photographed regularly as I have to have prescription driving glasses and all is okay. The straight lines looking curved only occur when I put reading glasses on due to their strength. Without the glasses the lines etc are straight just not in focus.

All running smoothly! You have finally got what you dreamed of - a TT layout with the trains correctly in scale with the track and looking good! Thanks for uploading.
@garryhall5552Ай бұрын
@AllensTrains I have never ever dreamed of trains in scale with track and still don't think about it. At the end of the day all I want is a layout that is functional and that the trains run on it irrespective of scale. When people talk/ask about the models I never promote or even mention trains v track.
@AllensTrainsАй бұрын
@@garryhall5552 When Simon Kohler was extolling the virtues of TT:120, this was the claim he made - unlike with OO gauge, the trains are in scale with the track! It also means continental locos and rolling stock can run on the layout, being correctly in scale. Although the Hornby TT:120 track is correct to scale in terms of gauge, it has some of the toy-like quality of the old TT in terms of rail height. Peco is slightly better in this respect - but you don't like it! I think you could disguise the overscale appearance of the track by making the ballast level with the top of the sleepers.
@garryhall5552Ай бұрын
@AllensTrains I know what SK said as I have watched all his interviews regarding TT 120 and I have been involved with model railways full time, (with no time out for wives and children), since the mid 1950's so I know what I can and cannot do. Track gauge has never been an issue to me these last 68/9 years and I have no intentions of ballasting this track, if I had I would never have used the scenic stone mat underneath.

Is this running on DC? I'm planning on doing something similar with a reversing loop running from the outer circuit across the inner circuit and then joining the inner circuit after doing a 180, but in DCC.
@garryhall5552Ай бұрын
@MarkJT1000 mine is just DC. I have no interest in DCC. This does not require any switching and in fact does not need any gaps/insulating fishplates.
@MarkJT1000Ай бұрын
@@garryhall5552 Just trying to get my head round all this as a newbie. So with your DC system the polarities of the inner and outer loops are opposite each other and under 2 separate controllers. Therefore within the reversing section the +ve rail is continuous from the outer loop to the inner loop with no break. As the loco enters the reversing section it passes over from one controller to the other, hence the need to get the 2 controllers set to about the same speed (and direction). Am I close?
@garryhall5552Ай бұрын
@MarkJT1000 it is not actually a reverse loop and there is no crossover of negative/positive polarity. Going clockwise on the outer circuit with the outer controller you can use the "loop" to travel around it onto the inner track and stop at the station. You cannot get all the way around the inner track until the loop point is changed and then the outer controller will not work. To do the filming I tried to be clever using the two controllers so the inner one could do a complete circuit after I changed the point.
