Hey Caleb, I'm having a different issue I wanted to ask you about. So, I was experiencing my 2018 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7 Macbook overheating quickly and the fans getting loud. I found out what tool I needed and I've physically cleaned my fans (and everything else under there) recently. What drives me crazy is, now I know my fans are fully operational and working well, and the underbelly of my machine is clean. What I've found though is not an issue with my fans but I guess, something else? My Macbook still gets really hot for seemingly no reason. This model has the touchbar above the keyboard. When I'm doing simple work on Chrome (yes I know Chrome drains battery etc.) I don't hear the fans, which is fine, but I touch the frame above the touchbar and it is really really hot. And I just don't know why that would be. I've tried to do some searching online about it but everyone focuses on the fans. So I cleaned the fans, reset the SMC, got rid of a ton of stuff stored, and am currently writing this with just chrome open and the frame is hot. Any ideas? Sorry for the long comment.

I have an IPhone and IPad but I saw no benefit when I briefly tried the ATV. I’m a retired single guy and don’t have a need for all the smart home features you mention. I simply use the apps on my 2 y/o LG tv and it’s easy to use. Plenty fast. I returned my ATV. But for people that have a smart home as you described I can see how they would like it.

After I have saved it using QuickTime as an audio only file I am unable to open in from my downloads application why is that?

I set up Hub2 to HomeKit, but failed to add Lock Pro as the secondary device. It always shows "failed to add devices".

These are a joke. Too difficult to use and too time-consuming to set up. I stick with cable TV. Simple to use.

Caleb, you mention it doesn't work with Apple keyboard??? I use my Apple iPad Mini 6 and Magic Mouse & Magic keyboard (both with lightning charging....maybe this version works and perhaps you were referring to the old Magic Keyboard that took AA batteries???? I love the iPad Mini 6 and when my Mac Mini (2011) and Apple 27" Cinema Display (2012) "craps out" on me, I'm going to replace my desktop setup with my iPad Mini 6 connected to the Apple Studio Display. (I know I won't get full 5K resolution from display.... because the iPad mini 6 isn't 4K resolution) I think it will still be an awesome, althought unusual, desk setup. What do you think? I’m on the train for 3hrs a day for travel to and from work. I enjoy using my iPad mini wifi for content viewing. I tether to my iPhone 15 Pro for streaming as required. While at home I’m using my home wifi using Safari, KZbin, Email and productivity apps like numbers and pages. It’s a brilliant device, light, small which complements my overall setup.

first, let me say that my new MacAir doesn't have that KZbin at the top, so why don't you explain how to get that at top of Safari. this was of no help because how does KZbin appear at the top of Safari.

I am sick and tired of Apple and ITunes and their damn near monopoly here that has to screw with everything. I want original music, that I’ve already purchased a dozen times on nearly that many formats, not these “remastered, digitized” etc POS! 💩 And I want to be able to mix and mash my own playlist for my personal use. I definitely do not want or need their AI bots poking around and spying on me in my own devices. This should be illegal if it’s not already!

Nope.. this used to work since the beginning of iTunes Match about 15 years ago, but starting in March of 2024 Apple added AI that scans the tracks you upload and if they violate copyright (like DJ mixes or mashups) may give Cloud Status errors. This means you could add and listen to a track on your Mac computer, but it will not sync to the cloud so that you can listen to it across devices (like your iPhone). To check in Apple Music on your Mac, go to "View > Show View Options" and make sure "Cloud Status" is checked on, then go to Library > Songs in the sidebar on the left and you will see either "Apple Music", "Matched", "No Longer Available", "Uploaded", "Removed", "Waiting", or "Error" as the Cloud Status. Since March of 2024, I get "Error" for the DJ mixes I make from the records I buy :(

Absolute security risk I would like to share my experience with the product and the support here and I advise everyone not to buy this product. I bought the SwitchBot Lock Pro + Hub Mini Matter Enabled + Keypad Touch and Dual Power Pack on 16 June 2024 via the manufacturer's website. After about 3 days this was also with me. The battery pack was not included - only when I asked did I get the answer that this was not available and would only be delivered at a later date. I also bought an ABUS locking cylinder with keys from Amazon. I then installed everything the following Sunday. First the ABUS locking cylinder, then the "SwitchBot Lock Pro", there are 2 adapter plates included and one of them fitted me, a magnet then had to be attached to the door frame. To install it, I had to download the app onto my mobile phone. I was then able to connect to the Lock Pro via the app and was then able to calibrate it using the instructions (opening and closing) - I then installed the latest firmware. Opening and closing via the app worked fine. I then installed the "Keypad Touch". First insert the batteries and then connect via the app - then a connection had to be established between the "Keypad Touch" and the "SwitchBot Lock Pro" - this failed several times and only after I had installed the latest firmware on the "Keypad Touch" was a connection to the lock possible. I didn't use the hub for the time being because I don't have a "Matter"-capable device at the moment. On Sunday, opening and closing worked perfectly via the app and also via the keypad. Then on Monday, my wife called me at work to say that she could no longer get into the house. I then went home from work. The door no longer opened. The keypad confirmed the entry and you could also hear the motor from outside, but it only opened the "lock bolt" and no longer the "lock latch" - as my wife and I hadn't taken a key with us, we couldn't get in at first. I couldn't open the door via the app either - despite locking and opening it several times, the drive still failed to open the "lock latch" - the app displayed "Drive blocked". Fortunately, I found the "emergency unlocking" function in the app before I wanted to call the locksmith. With this function, the drive also managed to open the "lock latch". Once we were back in the house, I immediately recalibrated the "SwitchBot Lock Pro" and it worked again without any problems until the afternoon: We were in the garden and suddenly the front door opened as if by magic - we hear this as we have a bell wind chime hanging on the door and when the door opens this hits the wind chime and the bells play.... We didn't have a mobile phone with us in the garden at all, so we couldn't have activated anything by chance and I'm apparently not the only user to whom this has happened (see another user's post: www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/11wea3g/beware_of_switchbot_locks/?rdt=52610 or www.amazon.de/gp/customer-reviews/R1OA1RUR1XVIJL/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0CR67GWML). The app's log says "manual opening" at the time - but nobody was in the house... This thing is a security disaster - imagine going on holiday and then the door opens - no insurance will cover such damage if the place is empty. The next disaster is the support. I dismantled the lock immediately after it opened automatically as if by magic and reported my problems to support and asked for it to be returned. They only want to see logs and refuse to give me a free return. Fortunately, I still have a 30-day right of return, so I now have to send the lap abroad to Poland at my own expense. I can therefore only advise anyone not to make the purchase. There are masses of negative reviews on the manufacturer's website - the reviews are only ever sorted according to the positive ones, which says it all...
