Dear Aikidoka; This is the real thing. Shihan has passed but his student, Stefan Stenudd in Sweden, is still teaching (and was Nishio's student). Not every dojo has this level of teaching.

Being Nishio sensei's student is one of the most important thing that happened to me, it completely changed my perspective, mainly as a person. Thanks for the fond memories.

Thank you for your comment. Indeed, it's impossible to really understand Aikido, or "find it convincing", by videos. It's better experience it in a good Dojo. 😉

I studied with Nishio Sensie in his home dojo for almost a year during the early late 80/90s. One of the greatest honors of my life. A true Bodhisattva 🔥🙏🏻🔥

Aikiken was only learned in Iwama. O' Sensei --- Saito Sensei --- Hitohiro Sensei.
@JustMe-vz3wd Жыл бұрын
no it was not. Morihei Ueshiba also did teach aiki ken to his son Kisshomaru EXTENSIVELY and had long discussions with Kisshomaru about aiki ken and the sword in aikido. Lastly, Christian Tissier is not doing aiki ken, but ken jujutsu. I hope you know the difference.
@KoRNeRd Жыл бұрын
Aikiken is a very nebulous concept, since kenjutsu was not taught by Takeda to Ueshiba. Saito's teaching is also not based on any concrete style just "the founder's teachings". Takeda studied Ittoryu and practiced in gekkiken (kendo). Some modern daito-ryu, keep an "aikiken" form of ittoryu. Ikkyo (ikkajo) is literally taught in the ittoryu kodachi forms and Takeda has stated it is taken from there. On that note, Tissier was not officially a student of Kashima-shin ryu, and does not have a licence to teach it. There was a sort of a controversy regarding this, and afaik he stopped. Kenjutsu styles are particular about teaching licences.
@tikitakafutbol2 жыл бұрын
This is not kashima shin ryu. Mr.Inaba only practiced KSR for few months, he was not a KSR expert, he was not a licensed teacher and he changed a lot of things. And mr. Tissier learnt from mr.Inaba so... not, this is not kashima shin ryu.
@MrBilej2 жыл бұрын
Also I'm under impression that mr Tissier Aikiken is very heavy under influence of Mitsugi Saotome original system with very minor influence of mr. Inaba teaching.

You mean that he doesn't bow to his ukes? Quite common when it comes to Japanese senseis. In aikido anyway. endo is worse 😂

Just a few questions for everyone: had you ever trained with Yamaguchi Sensei at Hombu or his own dojjo? Had you ever had coffee with him and had chats about Aikido or just things in general?. Have you ever had him spend time and effort throwing you so you could experience the techniques? Have you spent time in Japan learning how and when to bow? How do you understand what is the "pure magic of Aikido?" Do you understand 武産合気?Did you manage to learn some irimi , timing, maai,, kime, kokyu, and other things that he talks about in this session? Just asking.
