I’ve built thousands of bikes as a full time bike mechanic and can honestly say I’ve never used a torque wrench on a bicycle in my life. I have multiple sized torque wrenches for automotive work, just haven’t found them necessary for working on bikes. Whatever floats your boat I suppose. Thanks for the video!
@microSHIFTTECH10 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I think on automotive stuff the worry is under-torquing, and on bike stuff it's over-torquing. If you've got a good feel for 5 Nm then you've got most bike stuff covered.

You can replace them, but yeah I think the hard part will be finding an exact match in terms of screws. Try finding worn out derailleurs and stripping the parts?

What about this, my rearhub got serviced and greased perfectly. but when I put them althogether and properly tightened. there's still minimal wobble/wiggle around the axle or hub endcaps. is that normal? btw my hubs are mt410-b, no cup and cone hub, just straight sealed bearings.

I've seen that often in middle to lower end Shimano hubs. I'm not sure that there's anything to be done about it.

How do i fit a cassette to a ebike wheel ? Theres no threads and the axle doesn't come out its defo a rearwheel hub as the axles longer on oneside
@microSHIFTTECH9 күн бұрын
That one's tough to answer because there are so many different types of bikes. Check with the bike's manufacturer or a local bike shop, they should be able to help you out.

@@microSHIFTTECH the bikeshops around here are mainly bike not ebike when i said thread there is thread on the axle but most ebikes come with about 10mm of thread ontop of were the bearing housing is on the inside so on the outside that housing is threaded its just enough to catch maybe half a inner cassette and tightens just the same as normal bike when u pedal,im sure id have no problem getting that part threaded but with all these new types i bet theres a nicer one that acts more like a cassette rather than a freewheel thanks for reply ,👍subbed

I’ve been rocking this shifter and derallier on my surly preamble for over a year now and the thing just keeps working, keeps shifting, barely needs touching, it’s an incredible product!!! I’ve done a bike touring trip around the Netherlands, 100 miles a week was my average riding in summer doing commuting and leisure riding and plus I commute in all seasons from minus temperatures to sweaty roasting hot days. It’s a fantastic product and I absolutely love the refreshing stance of this video and mindset. Building a product that works well for the consumer for a fair price, microshift has a customer for life. (Also the host of the video seems super cool and I listened to him on the path less pedalled podcast and it was so interesting)

Hi, I bought a foldable bike recently and bumped the cage when I went over a curb. 😬 Are the super short Advent and Acolyte derailoeurs compatible with the non-super-short Advent and Acolyte shifters? Because that would be a gamechanger for foldable and compact bikes. (And please convince Tern tu put microSHIFT on their bikes. 😄)

They are not, sadly. But you can replace the shifter and derailleur pretty inexpensively.

Load of shit. Cassette does not fit tightly on 8/9/10 speed hub regardless of spacer or not. Mine's as loose as fuck, now looks like I've chewed up the lock ring as I've had it on and off so many times to try different things.
@microSHIFTTECH11 күн бұрын
That's a bummer. Get in touch with our customer service folks through our website and they can get you sorted. The first things they'll look at is making sure you have all the cassette spacers slotted in correctly, and whether you have an 11 speed freehub body (which would need an extra spacer behind the cassette).

If you can't get into your largest ring, it might be cable tension adjustment, and you might have your limit screw tightened too far.

GX and NX fit on the same standard derailleur hanger. SRAM's new Transmission stuff needs a specific hanger/dropout assembly.

You can get a replacement top cap that pushes the levers closer to the bar and effectively shortens the reach. Free stroke on cable actuated brakes is all controlled by the caliper, so make sure you're using a caliper designed for road pull brakes.
