Is it possible to provide a GPS pin for where to duck down to get closer to Nepopekum? I am trying for 400 BC falls in 4 years. Did 3 Falls trail today and got close to Shadow and Derek but would love to get closer to Nepopekum also like you describe in your blog and show here.

Sorry for the late response, I haven't checked this account in a while. I typically turn off from the trail at 49.06308, -120.93776. The trail gets quite close to the creek there. From that point I hike upstream until I'm on the eastern side of the spot where Nepopekum and Shadow Creek combine. There are a few log jams upstream from there that can be used to cross Shadow Creek.

Wow, that's intense!! An injured leg and 32 km to go. That's still an honest hike remaining at that point! I love sushi, but my body would've been craving fat, salt, and protein so much - sushi wouldn't have been my first choice : ) May I ask why you chose to start in the evening? The cooler temperatures? Just for added epicness? haha Anyways, this was fascinating to watch!

I'm impressed Trevor you're eating much healthier now! No koala cones? hahaha Looking forward to watching the next hike. :)

Great, Trevor! It was nice "walking" with you, watching the video... Stunning views! Seems a lot of black flies and mosquitoes were keeping you company. Those black flies are so nasty! Once I was hiking Garibaldi lake and I thought I won't survive - they were terrible! Nothing helped to keep them away, I am sure I was attacked more than everyone else around. Maybe they are more aggressive toward American citizens?:)
@trevortory2365 жыл бұрын
The black flies were quite bad on the summits. They weren't as bad as I was expecting at the creek which was nice. Usually I get hit with really thick swarms of them if I'm hiking along a creek or river. I did a hike on the Skagit River a couple of years ago where they were bad enough that I ended up putting my jacket on in 32 C/90 F heat. Definitely made me understand the stories of explorers going crazy from weeks of unrelenting black flies. There's a lot of American hikers coming in on the PCT right now, so if the black flies prefer Americans, maybe I'll try to buddy up with one of them next time I'm hiking in black fly territory

wow this is one of the steadiest time lapses i have ever seen. what kind of mount did you use? do you have to walk a special way to optimize the stability software? how long was the hike in real time? great weather
@trevortory2366 жыл бұрын
I mounted my Go Pro with a Karma grip. It's a gimbal (electronic stabilizer) designed to be used with a drone. The battery in it only lasts for about 1.5 hours, so I didn't shoot continuously. I tried to capture enough of the hike to give a good idea of what the hike feels like. Real time, I was hiking for about 2.5 hours, covering 9 km in that time. I didn't really have to walk in a special way, but I did try to take corners really slowly.

Thanks for sharing this. Larch meadows is one of my favourite places in the world. Did you overnight or just hike up in the wee hours before dawn?
@trevortory2367 жыл бұрын
I hiked through the night and got to the meadows an hour or so before dawn. It made for a very long night, but it was worth it.
