The idea that people wanted to ban Gone with the Wind was absolutely ridiculous. For a film made almost 100 years ago it is amazing how beautifully made the sets and costumes were, in addition to its great script. Hattie did the absolute best she could given her circumstances as a black woman in 1930s Hollywood. She was wealthier than many white actresses of the same era.
