To the person who posted this, I can never thank you enough! I am currently 62 years old now in 2020 and my uncle always said this to me since I was a very tiny girl. It came back to me and I thought I would look up and see if by chance the origin was on here and I was so pleased to find it and finally see it! It really made my day. It probably made the rest of my whole life! Thanks a million!

This is one of my favorite movie lines. I've used this often in the past and no one gets past you remind me of a man, they end up saying huh. And I have to tell them the next line to say and explain the whole running gag. Which destroys the whole joke. Still I'm hoping to find that one kindered spirit who knows this scene.

I know I am a few months late to the argument but it is power of hoodoo. Never once do they say voodoo. The exact script even says "Hoodoo." I am a few generations younger than this movie but it was one of my favorites growing up!
@ChrissieBear6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Voodoo is a religion, Hoodoo is a magic system. In the last few generations people have started calling the magic Voodoo though, for no discernible reason.

people say voodoo because of Laberynth, the words in that are "the power of voodoo"

Labyrinth took this and changed it to voodoo which is why a lot of people are saying that.I wonder if you would mind tell me what movie this is because my mother and I would like to watch it.

Uncharacteristically, I'm only luke-warm about this movie. In the beginning, Mr. Grant doesn't seem to have much energy. Later, as this scene demonstrates, he seems to step it up a lot more. THEN he reminds me of a man...

New movies don't even compare to these 4 me, and i'm relatively young compared to this movie. Started watching TCM and found so many great oldies. Kirk douglas,paul Newman, ect ect. I like comedy as comedy. Drama= drama. All movies now are generalized and pg13. I hate action with comedy. Million rounds fired no 1 even wounded. I digress, anyway if u find this clip comical Turner classic movies is filled with old warm joys like this. I seen grapes of wrath with Henry Fonda on there not 2 long ago and 1st time I'd seen the original 12 angry men and of mice and men classic for sure I hope don't fade out. No pun intended

Hi - I'm grateful to see this clip, but there's a mistake in the title you've given it. It isn't "the power of Hoodoo" - it's "the power of Voodoo". (Then it goes into the comment "Who do?" - or Hoodoo). Just saying. ;)

@Josh-th4yi8 жыл бұрын
+Denise Rayner It is actually "The power of hoodoo". "The power of voodoo" comes from Labyrinth, where Bowie mistakenly says voodoo instead of hoodoo. In this video, Grant even says "the power o' hoodoo".
@deniserayner10268 жыл бұрын
Actually - it is THE POWER OF VOODOO!!! Have you never heard of voodooo before? There is nothing called "hoodoo"!

He said "hoodoo" the second time around, too: The "v" sound is just a slightly prolonged "of," but there's a brief but distinct break before he starts the "h" on "hoodoo."

Ma'am it's hoodoo all the way down in this version. They do change it to voodoo in Labyrinth with David Bowie, though.

Except you're wrong, the script says Hoodoo, the actor says Hoodoo, Hoodoo is a magic you can have power in. Voodoo is a religion.
