So, what do you think, is this real plein air work, or work done in the room/studio? Did Sargent climb up the mountain for many days, with a 9 sq feet large canvas, an easel, paintbox, lunch, water, coat, parasol, etc. or this was done in the room, based on many similar watercolour studies he did in between 1908 and 1911?

That's so interesting. The linguistics of colour! It's a really helpful piece of advice to start from the words to help to see and then oajnt the greens. Green seems like such a tricky colour to enjoy using, I've found other artists feel that way too. Like watching you paint here I'm thinking how are you doing that?! I do love an olive or a lime or a dark veridian though.

Is it possible he painted over a different painting with the evidence of a previous texture? I love Sargent. I got to see his exhibit Fashioned by Sargent at the BMfa it was incredible to see so much of his work together and the pieces in it.

@@patrickokraI went to have a look at it, Patrick you're a modern day master! I took the liberty of printing out a copy to hang in my studio for inspiration. I've had a dry spell for a few months with painting, but finding your channel has given me the push to get back into it.
