Liked and subscribed. 🎸 I agree it's a niche pedal, but it does it's effect so well! Please consider a comparison with the "Schenker Gulls".
@HaydnMowbray Жыл бұрын
I recently sold the seagull pedal as the Schenker Gulls meets my needs. The Seagull in this video was one of the limited run ones before they decided to do full production runs. The new production one now has the ability to do both the gilmour and schenker thing like the Schenker Gulls

No idea. There was a lot of pushback from listeners to Copeland singing when Belew and King were in the band and much better singers. But they're Copelands songs and his vehicle so I guess it's his call. I remember Belew saying he was open to doing more. I certainly hope they do but am thankful I got a chance to watch them. I've seen King a couple of times before but I'd wanted to see Belew and Copeland live in some form for decades and they didn't disappoint

@@HaydnMowbray Thanks Haydn! I cought Level 42 at Gothenburg summer 2018 and wore a Gizmodrome T; at end bow Pete Ray Biggin recognized it and pointed it out for Mark and they both did a small dance and did thumbs up! It was hilarious and also a great thank you!

I think the bassist is either triggering a loop for something or switching on and off a pitch shifter, either way it's a lot of work on the right foot, exhausting to have to lean on that left leg for 5 minutes.
@HaydnMowbray3 жыл бұрын
It's played straight on the bass, no foot pedals. He's fretting the higher notes with his right hand

I figured it out, it's a pedal to do the vibrato, hes got it set on a momentary switch patch, that little trill would be impossible on bass strings hence why he came up with that idea. Sounds great. Kudos to him for pulling the stick part off so well.
@HaydnMowbray3 жыл бұрын
@@evankeal I hadn't actually noticed the pressing of the pedal before. I don't think he's resetting a loop or anything like that. I suspect he's got a momentary switch to act as a sustain with a compressor? between the end and beginning of the riff. You clearly see him playing it as per the already linked video so there'd be no reason for him to trigger a looper. And yes I am both a guitarist and bassist
@evankeal3 жыл бұрын
@@HaydnMowbray I finally figured it out, it's for the vibrato on the end of the riff where Tony does trills on the stick with his fingers on those tiny strings. On a bass that would nearly be impossible to trill those strings like that, and certainly difficult enough for this bassist to figure out this clever workaround. It sounds really good to me. In short, hes got a vibrato set up to mimic string trills.

Mark Claypool !
@HaydnMowbray2 жыл бұрын
Claypool got the technique from Elephant Talk which was written by King Crimson in about 1980. The bass line was written by Tony Levin on a Chapman Stick. Mark Levin would have been more accurate ;-)

I'd forgotten I'd even put this up! I think the supply of the seagull pedal is very limited. I've since had a pedal made for me that I named the 'schenker gulls'. It's half cocked wah and half seagulls. A niche thing but if you want those sounds..... Perhaps I should do a comparison between the two|!
