Have you considered a covered area for people to get out of the sun? After I did mine, I had to go ahead and build one. In hindsight, I should have extended it over the pool a bit just to get out of the sun, and as you know, Thais don't like too much sun. anyway, it's all looking good dying to see it all finished.

@@LIFEbytheMEKONG yeh there are a few options and you could get a sail they come in various shapes. A guy in korat does a material that os waterproof and sews it together to any size it is not expensive either so it could be used for a sail or a retracting shelter.

@@LIFEbytheMEKONG The valve is to stop the pool popping out of the ground due to pressure from the underground water table; All swim pools have one.
@LIFEbytheMEKONG23 күн бұрын
Water table is more than 18m down, we know this because we tried for a well and at 18m still no water, hard to belive considering where we are. They recon maybe 30m before hitting water, soil is like hard baked clay and bone dry. Even in monsoon season water only penatrates about 2 or 3 cm here, if that.

Yes there will be a couple of steps up to the pool, it will be the same height as the room patios which will step down to a lowered area.

The Thai workers do a great job especially in this humidity and heat with the sun beating down on them , what they accomplished on their first day was a great effort, they rocked up measured out the area for the pool then had the hole dug out also had the soil spread out around the yard , then they also managed to do the reo-bar in readiness for the concrete first thing in the morning. I hope at the end of the day they were offered a Chang or two to wet their whistles and of course one or two for the supervisor. :P PS: What made you choose a fiber glass pool compared to an above-ground pool , vinyl-lined pool or a concrete pool in-ground.

Maintenance realy, tiled and grouted pools tend to have bad ph levels, it's the grout apparently, also ease and maintenance, beer and thai whiskey when they come back they were traveling to udon thani so had to shoot off. They will be here longer next time. My wife did cook them lunch which they loved.

What size is the pool
@LIFEbytheMEKONG24 күн бұрын
Hi, we have had to downsize from 12m x 4.8m to 10 x 3.5 as the access roads are not wide enough for the larger pool. we could have had a 12m x 3.5 but it would have needed to be custom made, more expensive and longer to manufacture.

A resort or 3 wee granny flats for family members to stay,sorry I must have missed your vlog when you were telling us about your resort idea . Why did you not try a spray paint gun to paint the walls and have it all done in 1/4 of the time , bought cheap on Lazada , which means of course less time in the sun. :P Is there many tourists up that way that would make a resort a good investment ? I may be moving to Mukdahan early in 2025 so would like to drop in for a wee visit on the way but will wait and see what eventuates over the next few months.
@LIFEbytheMEKONG27 күн бұрын
It's realy for family and friends visiting, but will be useful as a resort during big temple events and festivals in That and Nakhon Phanom, yea get very touristy up here especially with Thais. Thought about spraying but would never use gear again, although it probably would have made sense, was it sn electric one, if not I would have needed a compressor too. Hi Paul, video quality and sound was very good, have you looked at sealing the walls before painting I stops staining and you also use less paint as the walls don't soak it up. It is basically P VA glue watered down you can buy it at do home. Try and keep all pipes where accessable especially if there is joints if under concrete its a nightmare to repair if you h as have leaks. Good idea to have a tap in the pump room as you might need for mixing chemicals I fitted one just outside use it a lot. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Hi I saw on several other KZbin videos a very good tip on how to avoid the black streaks down the inside of all your walls after it is repainted. Dig out a small trench about 12-18 inches from the base of the wall and fill the trench with stones 2 to 3 inches in size. After any heavy rain / fon toc this helps with drainage and all of the dirt splash back onto the wall dirtying the paint. This will prevent almost all of the marks. A private house owner and You Tuber posted this useful tip. I myself certainly would give it a try. Ps make sure your trench is slightly sloping away from your car port and house. Good Luck Roy from Hamilton in Scotland a subscriber of your channel. 😊😊😊
@LIFEbytheMEKONGАй бұрын
Hi Roy, thanks for the tip, it's not a problem where it's painted on the concrete wall, the problem was on the top inside of the toilet wall, the bricked and rendered area, it was staining from the inside out, the concrete wall that is black is under the carport roof and sheltered it doesn't realy get wet or splashback, very strange.
@67bracerАй бұрын
Nice. Looking good. Will be interesting to see the buildings

I like a nice tall solid wall for the privacy it provides. The only downside is it blocks the wind. PS I don't know how that got that because large vibrators are illegal to sell in Thailand.

Hehe, the level inside will be raised a bit, you will see as it progresses. Mains operated to haha

New camera and sound is good, would it not have been cheaper to continue those slatted trellis wood like sections all around ? Personally I think it would look nicer rather than the “ compound” look,. Wouldn’t need painting either,nice job on the surrounding wall all the same, might be worth having a few water runaways at the bottom of the new walls in case of future flooding, but I suppose it would be flooded next door to, expensive times ahead with pool and resort, good luck,.
@LIFEbytheMEKONGАй бұрын
HI, there will be building all round the wall so it wont be seen, that's why just plain wall, glad the new camera is ok, still need to master it. yea drainage completely around the perimeter, but you will see that when we start building.

Just trying to get some ideas. Do you think there would be work out in Thailand for me as a British Tiler?
@LIFEbytheMEKONG27 күн бұрын
There would be if you could get a work permit and visa, two things you need to be aware of are they do it completely differently here and the prices you can charge, labour here is only about £10 per day, maybe £20 max, it's hot and hard to work in the heat here, as a tiler you need to level the concrete using a very dry concrete mix then tile on top of it , its not like tiling on plaster board or a nice flat floor, a lot of work for very little money, however it is enough to live on, you would need to register (officially) for tax, sorry it's a long winded reply but lots to consider.
