Thats a nice collection of cars, especially the 59 but I am quite biased! Six is not excessive, just what floats your boat! For context, I was a kid from a London council estate (social housing, perhaps similar to American 'Projects' possibly) and left school with no qualifications bu through a combination of hard work and good luck I now find myself living in rural Ireland where my wifes family are from and my driveway is blessed with a 2005 Mercedes C220 CDI (daily) 1989 Range Rover Classic (functional toy 😅) 1989 Land Rover 110 / Defender (again, functional toy) and a 1999 Triumph Speed Triple (barely used as the weather here is ATROCIOUS!) Theres still three cars and a motorbike on my dream list and moving here has taught me that I can actually dream, the Defender WAS on that list and is now ticked off! I'm pacing myself watching your 1959 videos and Hopefully one day I'll have my own 59 on the driveway

Chris, I want to take my 1985 vanagon camper with subaru engine DONE this year and take it out west, and to the 1000 Islands. In addition, I want to get the 1956 Cadillac Coupe DeVille on the road and get the 1977 Eldorado Biarritz with Astroroof back on the road (a bit like your 59 in terms of fighting me). I bought it from a FORD guy, and he hated the Eldo. He said, that car fights me on everything. ..3 done this year, That's the goal in 2025 - minimum.

My local guy who worked on the 62 beetle restoration, we start with a short contract and payment of 2500, once that is spent, we sit back down and discuss plan forward and options, and make another payment, say 1500 ?? and he burned through that too and then we sat down a 3rd time. He told me that on a 65 impala, no metal work, the paint job was 15K. Im guessing you found a big quote ? Lots of these people want 100 a hour. This cadillac seems to have the typical rust I have seen on a local car, it had been repaited from the side body molding down and it was bubbling.. The seller was sleazy, he said he restored cars during winter since summer he, was in the paving business....and he said he did not know if the cadillac had had work, I said Oh come on now, even I, can see the tape line.

Regarding the visor, i found that by using a Dremel with a cutting disc between the area where the screw goes through to tighten the visor, you are widening the area with the cutting disc, now the two sides can be tightened To hold the visor up. Nice thing is since you are grinding the two insides of the metal bracket, no damage is done or shows!

@weswhitlinger1706Ай бұрын
Wrong diagnosis. I have a 49 Ford that I converted to a one wire alternator, and it shows that it is charging just great at 450 RPM. Alternators are noted for putting out a good charge at lower idle speeds. On some applications you will have to rev the engine a little upon initial start after it has set for a several days. The exciter is activated by a magnetic field, and that field gets weaker after setting a while. On my 49 Ford I wired in a momentary switch that excites the alternator on initial startup so I'm not revving a cold engine. This setup has been trouble free for several years now. I've been building rods and customs for more than 50 years now. I believe I know what I'm talking about.

Hey! I've written you before. I have the 1952 Ford Pickup and a 1958 Cadillac DE Ville. I also bought a 1959 Cadillac Deville, 2 door recently. 1 st thing I did was replace all the hoses, water pump carburetor full tune up. It had most other things replaced, gas tank sending unit, brakes. I have had it all summer and nothing went bad. I'm now waiting! On my other cars, I'm always waiting! But there in all parades, weddings, proms, local car shows. And the pick up is good for hauling a new stove, lumber, helping people move. I also have a 1966 2 door DE Ville, that's my tank, runs good all the time, I drive it alot. I have a nice big barn, heated, and a lift. Most of my friends use the lift more than I do. I love to putter around with them all. Wash, wax, oil changes. New hoses!!!!! I'm retired, and it gives me something to do. I have bought a lot of extra parts, and I have parts cars, and one for the truck 2 flat head v 8 s just in case. Well good luck, and I'm glad it was just a hose. Mark

Looks like you’re converted to 12 volts . The 6 volt system is Positive ground, if your 12 volt system is not also changed to negative ground and you jump it thinking negative ground the diodes in the alternator are blown immediately. One wrong move that way costs you an alternator. Once you get clear on 7:35 all that those alternators are the easiest to get, you could even carry a spare.

I have a 1985 vanagon has been an 8 year project. Thousands of dollars, hundred's of hours, and 4 engines all to go 600 miles and still not done. Refrigerator not installed, sunrooof skylight broken, cabinets lose, heat seems to be :on" even with levers closed, axle noise, and pulsing brakes and so many distractions if's hard to get anything done ! -- having said this, when the time is right you will know it. I say sleep on it - maybe all winter and then decide. I hope to have one someday. I kinda of like the 6 windows, not the flat top or the coupe.
