I don’t mind Brad having a style of play (5 out) he wants to employ. My problem is not recognizing something isn’t working and making the in game adjustment.
@BardoMedia2 күн бұрын
@@simeonfuller5389 I think we need to keep in mind these are college players not NBA players. This is the way the Illini are going to play. This is what they practice. I’m not sure you can change your colors in game. Brad has made adjustments to style of play over the years but his in-game adjustments have not been a strength. All that being said they lost in OT on the road against a veteran squad. 1 or 2 of those 3’s fall the Illini win that game

Brad lost the game at Northwestern. His stubbornness to keep Humrichous on the floor when can’t he guard his shadow. I don’t know what his plus minus was. If he’s not hitting threes, he is a liability. I wish the coach and staff would have recognized that early in the 2nd half and played Morez more or pivoted to Booth. We had a 10 point lead with a little over five minutes to go. Northwestern targeted Humrichous and KJ (to a lesser degree) and took and game from us.

sorry, all, but ben is a one-trick. he's 6'9" and the only rebounds he gets are the one that fall into his hands. and that's against #350-type teams. he gets pushed around like a ragdoll, and the secondary playmaking has been utterly nonexistent. he gets targeted on defense, and won't stand up against big ten competition. OTOH, he's a finisher. and trey is not. trey is 10x better, but the one single thing that ben can do is maybe what we need.

With respect Steve, I'm a black male who was also once a scholarship college athlete. I get you about our culture, but that should never be their excuse for engaging in behavior they fully knew would get them kicked off the plane. Even at 18 years old, I still knew how to behave. You already know, there's zero tolerance on flights, and they're old enough to know that too.
@BardoMediaАй бұрын
I’m simply saying IF, and that’s if no punches were thrown then that’s loud talking. Maybe another player or coach needed to step in between them to get them to calm down. But IF no punches were thrown is that cause to get kicked off a PRIVATE flight? They weren’t flying commercial. Auburn University chartered that flight. So if no other passengers were on the flight and according to reports no punches were thrown then I see it as a simple dust-up. We expect these athletes to complete like gladiators on the court and be Uber competitive. That competitive spirit spills outside of the court at times. Most people have zero understanding of this. So when they hear black men getting loud they automatically think the worst. If they “fully knew” talking loud and getting animated would get them kicked off the flight and NOT allowed to play you think they would’ve done it? I think not since I was once a scholarship player as well.

Lot of assumptions here. Pilots have very strict regulations by which they make decisions. If a pilot turns a plane around with all the repercussions that ensue, it isn't for nothing post 9/11, nor should it be. There is no wiggle room bc if you let it go and it goes south, the consequences can be disastrous. Hopefully these young men learned that anything even close to being perceived as aggressive behavior is not and should not be tolerated in the air. The pilot is making a decision based on worse case and there are no good guesses at 30k feet. It's not cultural competence when the pilot has to make a safety decision and it never will be. Keep your beef on the ground, private or public flight, and there will be no issues.
@Gee2deDubya29 күн бұрын
@BardoMedia Just saw your response, and I appreciate your reply. Rather than disagree vehemently with you, I'll simply say that upbringing amounts for much. Yes, I do believe that young men- who expect to be treated as such- need to act as such. They're making in some cases, more money than some will see in decades of work. Be worth the investment. If this were my son, I'd want to hear his side, but he also knows I expect him to act as though he wasn't raised with wolves, lol, so a lecture is coming. If he doesn't want the lecture, make better choices. I despise being political here in sports discussion, but we are currently in an extremely polarized country where certain people, expect other certain people, to behave a certain way- stereotypes, in other words. This 'dustup'? All it provides is confirmation of those untrue stereotypes, and as much as I despise said stereotypes, this isn't helping. This is all obviously jmo; nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. Us as black people getting loud being a reason to simply look elsewhere though...that's kinda how I interpreted your statement. What purpose does us being unnecessarily loud, actually serve? Does it make a positive difference, or are we mostly just running in place, really really hard, lol? Have a good night Steve.

Best? Ole miss was one of the worst defensive teams in the nation last year per them trash SEC announcers. The problem was the turnovers and lack of chemistry which accounted for lack of ball movement, player movement and execution. But it sure would’ve helped to get some stops. Gotta get this fixed or it’s gonna get real, real ugly coming up with this non-con. Schedule
@BardoMediaАй бұрын
Why were they trash? This Ole Miss team is one of the oldest in the nation vs the youngest and least experienced Big Ten team this season. Can’t get stops with that many turnovers. That’s why you play these exhibitions to find the warts. It’s gonna take awhile but by March this team could be dangerous. Underwood’s teams historically follow this pattern

This Iowa front court is going to be more athletic and defensive than I’ve seen in awhile. Tadjo, Traore, and Freeman are legitimately great athletes. Combined with Dembale, I’m actually excited to see what Fran does. The pick-and-roll hasn’t been a staple of Fran’s motion offense, but with somewhat non-shooters-but-excellent-facilitators in Thelwell and Harding and Harding, I’m hoping to see it a lot more. The cutting and spot-up shooting opportunities will still be there with the likes Dix, Sandfort(s) and Koch, but I want to see some lob city, too! (Oh, and defense)
