Being totally truthful here....this is the best video I have seen, (for 2 gen transmission service). Now I know what and how to change my transmission fluid. "Thank you!"

Yes, they are basic, but thats just less go go wrong, and they are easy to maintain for the most part, the only downside is the mpg isn't great.

I own a 2011 extended cab SR5 4x4 with the 2.7 liter 4 cylinder engine. I bought it in 2012 with 20,000 k and now have about 110000 k. I can’t praise this truck enough. I have hauled countless cords of wood and it always responds to the job. The only mechanical issue I have had was one broken leaf spring about 3 years ago. My local mechanic replaced it for about 300 dollars. My Toyota dealer rust-proofed the frame about 5 years ago on a Toyota recall. I live in the rust belt of western PA and there is very little rust on the undercarriage after 13 years. I replace the oil once a year with Amsoil Signature 5w20 and don’t burn a drop of oil. A few weeks ago I replaced the front and rear differential oil with Amsoil Severe use gear oil and the transfer case oil was also replaced. My mechanic drained and replaced about 4 quarts of transmission oil. Since the differential oil replacement, the truck is noticeably more responsive and accelerates much better. As for interior modifications I replaced the radio with a Sony CarPlay unit and led interior lights. All in all I really appreciate and like this truck and would not trade it in because it runs fine and not having payments is a real bonus.

On my 2010 I found that I could not bleed the rear drums unless I had the key in the ON position. It may have something to do with the ABS.

Nice rig!! On my 3rd Tacoma so we love them...a 2013 2016 and the current one a 2024 SR5 2WD. I don't go off-road and it rarely snows where we live so I'm good not having 4WD although both of my previous Tacoma's had four wheel drive. I get approximately 25 mpg with 5300 miles so far.

how long do we have to wait for the temperature light coming on ? thank
@OutdoorTaco
@OutdoorTaco 28 күн бұрын
It depends, the A/T temp light will come on if you have enough fluid in the transmission and after you’ve kept the truck running up to operating temp give or take. For me it was about 5-10 mins if I remember correctly.

Those rear drains on mine didn't want to budge and I didn't dare wrench any harder. I opted to just do a partial drain will repeat at the next oil change

You can remove the bottom radiator hose to drain.Then replace it and tighten clamp

I bought all the same parts you listed however when I try and tighten the light bar into the brackets it wont get right enough. Did you need any washers or chrush washers to make it hold its position?
@OutdoorTaco
@OutdoorTaco Ай бұрын
You can add washers to make the placenta to your liking I’m sure that would work. However I didn’t need anything extra, bolted on the brackets, fastened the light bar on and it’s still holding strong. Sorry you’re having a hard time with it
