Don't forget to visit the interesting squatter settlement at the South end of the Victoria Embankment during your next visit. Burnt trees, acres of litter & random filth as no ablutions available, with stoned illegal immigrants stumbling around through the squalor like zombies. Would make a fantastic dystopian setting for an apocalyptically themed movie!

Next time you’re in Durban, you should come up the hill to an area called Kloof which has beautiful nature and hiking. Then go a bit further to Howick, the Midlands, and the beautiful Drakensberg mountains. These are my favourite areas and I’d choose them over the city any day.

Correction: The University of KZN is one of the best in the WORLD. If this is all you saw of Durban you did yourselves a great disservice. I don't know who scared you so much about this country. There is crime alright but not as alarming as it is in your country - one must just be alert when in the street or in secluded areas. You missed all the Durban vibe and next time give Umhlanga a miss and book yourselves into a place close to the city. There are numerous worldclass restaurants and others that are uniquely South African in all our big cities- you ' ll be amazed.

Looking at this makes my heart a bit sore. I'm South African and we used to go to Durban twice a year on holiday. It was amazing. But now it seems a bit run down. I haven't been in about 10 years. 😔 Durban needs to be brought back to its former glory. KZN can be better than the Western Cape. But the provincial municipality in durban seems to suck.

Went a few months ago znd so sad to see the waterslides empty...no rickshaws....the rundown buildings...we went to a mall and we were the ONLY white people in there, quite a few people took a second look.... But there was still a chill vibe in the air....sone really beautiful buildings there....We stayed in a hotel (work related trip) which was great...got a suite with full kitchen and amazing views for price small cheaper hotel room in cape town... weather wasnt great but i really enjoyed it....we need to revive Durban...its so worth saving

I did find your selection of things to do in Durban very interesting ( university/ Office blocks / and a few parks as you can see by the amount of people sitting around there not very popular , I also would have stayed down in the village ( Raddision ) is very nice, where you guys stayed yes you will find lots of WRX .s going around and around besides shopping it’s also where business people stay . Lots of very restaurants Resturant s also in the village , would I have chosen Roma , not sure but those PRAWNS did look good I hope you got an automatic car ( not stick shift ) but if you can identify a WRX someone there can drive stick I in fact grew up in La Lucia not far from there and love the Indian Ocean swim all year round , Hope you got to Kruger , !!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom is from Durban and we spent a lot of time just visiting family in the area so we didn’t get to venture too far out. But my mom always had a manual in South Africa so she demanded manuals once she came to America as well so I had to learn how to drive on a 5 speed suv. Needless to say, that was quite the experience. Then I met my husband and he had an 6 speed Audi S4 and currently has a 6 speed golf R so he really wanted to try a manual in South Africa but we did stick to an automatic so everyone would be able to drive if needed.

Amazing video of Durban. In all honesty the teenagers where probably asking if you wanted a photo of you and paul together and they would take it using yourlls camera. They do this as a kind gesture for tourists Probably got lost in translation and thats why they backed of calmly. Trouble makers wouldnt take a chance if other random locals are around. As for Roma, i thought it closed years ago and is probably more a tourist gimmick now and probably serves the same food as any downtown Italian old school restaurant. Thank you for sharing a small part of Durban to the world and welcome back anytime laarnie😂
