Selling cruises could be your next vocation! You showed off the ship to its best advantage and it looked wonderful and must have got up early to film all those empty spaces. Great camera shots throughout. I’m sure if anyone watches this that is thinking of booking a cruise they will want to book this ship!

You took some lovely footage! We stepped on shore here planning just to walk around and we bumped into someone called “Eric the Red” so off we went with him on the same tour round. When I got back I looked up to what the Norwegians have invented which turned out to be the cheese slicer, the comb, and the paper clip however they have made cutting edge advancements in offshore oil platforms! Not sure what Hurtigruten cruises are like but they do seem to go to some very different places from the usual.

We have a friend who went on Hurtigruten and she loved it, more like a sort of ferry people get on and off at different places, but they go to places normal cruise ships don’t

Steve, so impressed……You either have an encyclopaedic mind or you write everything down. Sometimes I can barely remember if we have been to ports before (and we usually have) let alone pronouncing all the names of the Fjords! However on our last Fjords cruise we didn’t stop in Flam even though we were supposed to. Luckily we have been there before and I agree it really is a lovely sail in and port. Your video(ing) skills are wonderful!

Great video as always and you’ve shown it in such an inspiring way. Such a beautiful place and I agree that these places are disappearing. When I look back a previous cruises (keep all the info on my laptop) and noting different places that can no longer be visited. Ukraine which took in Sveastopol, Balaclava and of course now Russia and the last time we did a huge ship to the Fjords it couldn’t dock! Tempted to book again soon in case it disappears off the itinerary altogether. Also why does buying an ugly troll doll seem such a good idea at the time and when you get home you ask yourself why? 🤣

Lovely cabin, it looked very plush. Lots of wardrobe space and great bathroom. Never had a butler but would like one at home! 😀 We had a lovely time on Queen Anne. The Canaries were 30 degrees which was too hot really. Great ship and they have a great Insight programme (speakers etc) Alan Titchmarsh came on board to do a couple of talks( really nice person) and a chap who was Governor of Belmarsh prison and he gave 4 talks which were fascinating. Two more speakers a 60s music chap and a lady who was an historian and Egyptologist. Cunard seem to excel in these talks which we always went along to along with afternoon tea every day at 3pm! I think you’ll have a wonderful time when you sail on her. Food was great, shows good if you liked what was on offer and lots of quiet spaces to sit and read or watch the world go by. It’s very hard to come back and start having to cook again!…..lol

Great video showing how Stavanger is. I don’t know if you ever have been in the old Canning museum? The first couple of times we cruised there I couldn’t be bothered thinking it’s not really my thing but on our last trip we did and it was wonderful and really interesting. Really loved the graffiti/street art. The food in Luminae looked delicious. Did you try any of the other 4 main restaurants? I thought the standard of food generally was very good. We’re off next Sunday on Queen Anne. Slowly putting together warm/cold clothing plus raincoat/umbrella etc etc to be prepared for all eventualities. I’m sure you have Joanne, like me, a cruise wardrobe/evening wear etc you get out each time you sail!

No we didn’t go to the Canning museum, I’d probably be a bit like you and think it wasn’t our cup of tea, but just shows you that you should try everything. We will do the same on our cruise on apex next year. One question I have however was about parking. Was wondering how much it was to park your vehicle throughout the duration you were away and how to go about booking that?
@soditwereretiredАй бұрын
Thank you for your comments We use ABParking at Southampton, costs about £95 but well worth it, car is locked in a compound with all other cruisers vehicles, right next to the ship, you get out your car and leave you luggage by your vehicle, you see it again later on in your cabin. Hope this helps

Great video. It just makes me want to cruise. I never understand people that say they don’t fancy it. What’s not to like? I do think there’s a caveat that you have to ensure you pick the right cruise line for you. I agree that the Apex is stunning but only if you do book The Retreat as the experience otherwise is not in any way comparable. You obviously pay a premium and should get more but I disliked the way the front of the ship is cut off so there was no “crows nest” area to sit for the rest of the ship. The Martini bar I found a bit dark and gloomy eventually and the cocktail show was the same every evening. The food is great. The price’s exorbitant and the entertainment was good if you liked it and not if you didn’t! Also did you ever see that magic carpet move? We didn’t. We’re off on Cunards Queen Anne in a few weeks which is totally a new ship for us. Cunard concentrates on a very good enrichment programme with lots of talks and I have to say afternoon tea, white tablecloths, silver service and waiters dresses in white gloves. It’s a real experience with usually a pianist or harpist to accompany….all very Downton Abbey! I just love cruising! 😊

@@soditwereretired Queen Anne is not liked by a lot of Cunarders. So be prepared for that. It breaks a lot of design/feel tradition from sister ships.
@benjaminsmith2287Ай бұрын
I have a philosophical issue with the Retreat on Apex. I don't like the idea of it taking up prime real estate on this ship. I go back to the Horizon class of Celebrity and Century class. And any of the other classes that forward observation lounge was very valuable for how my wife and I spent time onboard ships. At any rate, it's gone for a specialty restaurant? Nope, don't like that. So, I agree with your point. I don't get a ship feel on this vessel. It's something different. Maybe great for singles and groups as it has a lot of group acitivities. Eden and the Grand Plaza are similar but Eden at least is its own area. The Grand Plaza is noisy and I don't know why anyone would want to spend extra money on the steakhouse or Le Bistro and other specialty dining areas to hear so much noise from the Martini Bar and lobbyish area spilling into their dining experience. The Club seems small for some of what it does. It's fine as a dance club and for some games. But doesn't have any of the ambiance of the Solstice's Sky Lounge. And there's nothing like the Ensemble Lounge on this ship. My favorite Celebrity ships were the Century, Galaxy and Mercury. Sisters that weren't identical and had an aft lounge for more music/entertainment possibilities along with the Rendezvous lounge and an excellent observation lounge. They had Michael's pub open to everyone. They didn't have specialty restaurants and didn't need them because the MDR food was superb (when they were in their first few years of service). The Celebrity style was different. Very grown up and pretty quiet. Now it's more "rah rah."

We have been there on a visit to the area and I agree the gardens do look lovely. I’m sure eventually we are going to bump into you guys in one of these properties. Joanne I will definitely bump into you in the shop of course! I realise I have bought at least four of their lovely blankets, numerous jams, lotions and potions and a couple of their pelican garden ornaments. Now I try and stick to my little curly willow ornaments and maybe a plant or two. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the house. I’ve always found the Georgian NT houses the least warm and welcoming. Strange isn’t it. I’m always looking for the “could I live here” feeling. I thought a Ha Ha was for cattle grazing so they were contained and couldn’t come near the house. A sort of natural fence. That coloured code sign was strange…..why didn’t they just write the sign in English!? I must be getting old! 😜🤣

Loved the birds and see the great work that some of these charities do. There was certainly a lot to see but I did think the entrance fee was quite expensive especially if you were a family. I always think the love shown to all those classic cars is fantastic, it looks like every nut and bolt is lovingly polished! The steam engines nice to see but not really my thing so would have interested me for about 3 minutes! 😀 We have 4 very big antique buildings to visit within 10 minutes of where we live and you can spend hours browsing so between the National Trust, Historic Houses and our castle (great for taking visitors) I spend a lot of time looking at “old” stuff. Which, by the way, is now antique from 1980 so must of my childhood memories are now for sale!!

We’re seriously thinking of moving to your part of the world as the sun is always shining no matter where you both go!😜

We always say the same, if the trees weren’t there or as tall the views would be spectacular, and as you said probably weren’t when Agatha was there.
