Hi, I don’t suppose you can point me in the direction of where you got the footage of the dredges could you? I’m trying to put together a video on sustainable scallop diving.

I do love an Inspirational Story. Now we need to let Water Companies know that we don’t want them polluting our Coastal Areas anywhere, including Rivers.

Its an aweful practice, NZ fisheries even to this day still allows our commercial fishing fleet to bottom trawel our waters year after year and despite scentific evidence of the impact they are having are allowed to continue, Not only are all marine species suffering coral forests that are hundreds if not thousands of years old are being destroyed. Our Scallop beds that where once abundant around our coast where most Kiwis could dive and gather them are all but destroyed other that a few small pockets. Only now do they put a ban on taking scallops when its an easy decision as there is nothing to take, lets hope they can recover, Our once plentiful crayfish populations in the north Island have also been decimated. It seems commercial interests always seem to win against the enviroment, The commercial fishing industry in NZ is very short sighted. Contact fishing methods should be banned full stop.

I remember going to the Lamlash fishing festival every year with my old man. Dozens of wee rowing boats packed with anglers filled the bay. What a variety of catch as well and we even had a close encounter with a basking shark. I took my kids out in the 80's for a trip down memory lane and what a disappointment. The bay seemed devoid of fish completely. So sad!

Honestly I went to the Isle of Aaron a few years ago and never knew any of this, more about the whiskey distillery which i went too and bought a ton of booze, after watching the Sea conspiracy documentary I found out about this and donated, more awareness is needed and more no take zones around the UK (and the world) are needed, thank you to all the people who support and bring awareness to these issues.
