I had been sleeping when my brother threw the basketball at me. I had been drinking my coffee when my best friend massaged me. I hadn't been focusing when you greeted me yesterday.

How should an Australian give instructions as a supervisor but still be polite and not be seen as offensive/ aggressive? Polite suggestions gives the person a choice not to agree but staff often do need to do their job. Many staff are off task, chatting or looking at their phones during work time.

We say, 'Your Excellency', when we speak to a Bishop in English. English could have kept using Mr, Mrs and Miss but seems to have dropped this in Australia, even in schools.

Emma, thank you for an excellent lesson, as always. You are definitely the best English teacher for both students and other teachers! And this is why you are my first port of call for all English matters, be they grammatical or relating to pronunciation. David
