Excellent video and cover! It was amazing to see the EMS VCS3, Pitch to Voltage, Random Voltage Generator etc in the background during the Linn section, I used to own all four of those units in their cricklewood cabinets, but sadly sold them in 1991.

Nice finished track! The singing isn't too bad either! I'd love to see what you could do with just the Yamaha PSS A50 with this song. Now THAT would be a fricken challenge!

For a great deal of the finished product, I couldn't believe I wasn't listening to the original. This is an amazing, faithful recreation of one of the greatest synthpop songs of all time. Great job!!

Outstanding ! Super vocals too. I thought I knew this track well but really had no idea how many different and creative parts made up the whole. Many thanks, Alex. Love your channel.

Wow that was really good! Whatever difference could just be tape compression and a few EQ changes. Listening to the original and I see about the 'mistake' in timing and the clam chord but it also sounds kind of like they edited down from a longer version with another verse or something.

What a classic. Syncing the two instruments seemed like a scientific problem for the ages. Well done.

Absolutely STUNNING REMAKE-- Additionally , I heard the producers RE PROGRAMMED this sone from it's original darker goth version and did it over night. When the band came in next morning they HATED it... not sure if it's true. But if so, they did all the re programming in 20+ hours..

This is an impressive body of work. I stumbled upon this probably due to my interest in retrowave. Excellent work by everyone involved and the history behind it was awesome!!! kick rockin 💯

Hi Alex it is brilliant OK wow! can you please look at Duran Duran and Planet Earth with what Colin Thurston added! and maybe the Rio album as well because Colin gets forgotten about with what he added to the 80's scene. I seem to remember at the time he had the Roland system 100 wow personally I want the same system used by Richard Barbieri with the Roland System 700 very rare! lol Maybe you should mentioned about system 700 and Japan songs seeing as people want know about what we did way back in the 70s and 80's, I will say for record that I will buying a Behringer LM, personally I think this company should be given a chance! I actually think the best innovative item right now in 2025 is the Behringer LM! The BX1 which is a DX1 with CS80 filters wow I can't wait for this item...

Thank you so much for making this video. I enjoyed all of it so much because I know how hard it is to produce in this inimitable and convoluted way! It's painstaking, slow, frustrating, and rewarding!! I found this out first hand when I made an album using only the basic sequencer on Roland's Fantom x8 synth 😮💨😰🤣 I became aware very early on that work arounds for the limitations of the gear were going to reveal creative processes themselves! I ended up recording drums, guitar tracks, synth tracks, fx tracks, etc. as separate songs and re-sampling them to free up the 50+ tracks required to mix them together. It's a nightmare! You seem to know your stuff very well and you are well seasoned! There is much work in this video. I love it. You just don't get this kind of content on TV. Because it's not something that could ever be streamlined! It's a labour of love. Well I must congratulate you on a total banger here. I have a small request however that I don't expect be to heeded due to it's obscure nature! There's a track that has always had me desperate to find out how the blasted thing was made. It's called "Summer with Marty". Give it a listen.. it's right up your street! Ha ha! Thanks again!

Incredible remake.. perfect vocals too. I think also what’s interesting that I’ve heard the song so much I can still detect very subtle differences, they don’t detract though. (Strings might need a bit less phasing and lowered in the mix?). Must have been incredible to have the wing units and 9 oscillators back in the 70s.

I love the synth sounds of the late 70s and 80s. Human League was a iconic synth band. I don't know why with all the modern technology the music is not that good. Maybe I am partial, and it was a very special time in music history.

Awesome, all over the synth and beat programming but the voice is what makes this, Man versus Machine [and a bit of woman]. Great voice dude!

I got as far as the first "Don't... don't you want me?" before I started singing along. Had to go back and listen to it properly when I was less excited. Damn, that was great! Thank you so much. I used to play along with the original on my Odyssey, which could get fairly close on the bass lines and the duo brass stabs, so it was a joy to see how it was actually done. First time I've come across the channel but I'll be back. And well done both of you nailing those vocals! Happy days!

Alex thank you so much for doing this! This was the first song I ever danced to with my future wife. It must have been 1982 or us. After some ups and downs, we married in 1991 and have been married for 33+ years. This song remains a keystone beyond music for us for 40+ years.
