I just got a 2009 SX230 and I changed the plugs yesterday. My plugs looked like yours. They were black at the bottom of the plug threads for about 3/16" like your plugs. My question is do you think that is normal or maybe a sign of too high oil level in the tank. My oil level looks too high to me. It reads completely full even at cold temperature.
@tlwhiten12 жыл бұрын
I think spark plugs look normal. As long as they aren’t oily, you should be fine.

Hey Tate,thank you for this video. Next week i will look at one of these boats from 2008 and hopefully buy it. Do you have any tips on what I should look out for? After how many hours should the engines be overhauled?
@tlwhiten12 жыл бұрын
Hey Christopher, these are really good boats. I am by no way an expert on them. I have heard they can get some rot around the cover for the gas tank, so I would check that. Check steering and throttle cables for freedom of movement, check clean out plugs to make sure they come out realistically easy. MR1 engines are awesome engines. You need to check hours at dealer. But if taken care off, can last a long time. Hope this helps.

@@tlwhiten1 Thank you for your answer, it is very helpful to have to have a few points on a checklist 😅 How many hours do you have on your boat without problems?
@tlwhiten12 жыл бұрын
I am not sure how many hours I have on my boat, but we have had zero problems. Change oil and spark plugs every spring, winterize it with antifreeze in fall. Grease intermediate bearings every spring when I lube my axles. That is really it.

Husqvarna has no clue who their dealers and servicing dealers are. Put in my zip code, and a bunch of hardware stores that do NOT sell the brand pop up (never sold the brand), along with 2 service centers that closed three years ago. The website help? Good luck with that, the problem that I had has no 'links', so if you plan to use that website, make sure that when you break the snow blower, you break something that has a link to it (lol), because if you don't, forget getting a fix before winter is over. Bottom line, you will NOT be able to talk to anyone. Customer service is non-existent, best thing to do is avoid this brand period, whether it is a snowblower, motorcycle, or a hand held feather duster. Nothing but headaches trying to solve a problem or troubleshoot it.

Does anybody know why the augerlock handle gets stuck?
@tlwhiten12 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t get stuck per day, as there is a lever on the underside of the handle that keeps the auger engaged when you have the drive handle depressed. This is so you can operate chute controls without stopping.

Pretty sure your extraction pump works by siphoning once it gets started...Therefore you would need to move the end of the exiting hose to a lower level for the siphoning process to be quicker.

I bought a 2005 sx230 about 5 years ago. It has been the best, most reliable, most versatile boat I've ever owned or operated. I absolutely stole it from a guy that had over filled the oil by 4 quarts per engine, and every time the engines started they smoked like they were on fire. I changed the oil, cleaned the air boxes, and put in high flow filters and it has not skipped a beat!

When you pump grease into the bearing (your final step) you should hold the tube going into the intermediate bearing with your left hand and gently squeeze it then pump the grease gun with your right hand ONLY UNTIL you feel the grease going into the tube. Three pumps (as you did) of a grease gun could be FAR more than .20 - .27 oz. If you overload it and blow out that seal you will be in a world of hurt. Or at least pump 3 times onto and accurate scale and see how much it is.

I did the to my bike as well, same year and same lights. I am finding the final “beauty ring” on the main head light rattles quite a bit when the bike is running, it definitely doesn’t sit as flush as the original head light assembly. Did you find this as well? If so what did you do to fix it?

Hi. I have a 2009 AR230HO and it would always start right up without any issues at all. Both motors. I got stuck at the end end of last year because a boater was flagging me down so I stopped to see if they need help not paying attention to where I was. I sucked up some mud and ever since my starboard motor takes for ever to start up and stay running at idle and has a vibration. Flushed a lot and ran in river 3 times after the incident. It is garage kept and I’m wondering if you know anything that I could check? I pulled the jet pump and checked impeller and seems good. No trash or anything.

I know I should update with a snow test. It blows really well. They only issue I have is when it is windy and cold, snow can get on friction plate and cause snowblower to not move until wheel dries off. Usually about 15-20 seconds. Very frustrating. I wish I would have got the hydrostatic for this reason.

Kevin I have owned the boat for about 5 years now. I change oil and spark plugs every spring. That is the only maintenance is have done to it. You can take 6-8 adults if you needed to. 4-6 makes it nice. If you wanted to pack in and spread out once you get to sandbar, the capacity is 10.

@tlwhiten14 жыл бұрын
Tom Jandron I do still own the boat and I love it. I haven’t tried wake surfing, and I don’t think it would be well suited for it. Not much of a wake behind them. Need to use water bags, etc to get a decent wake. If you want to wakeboard/surf and that is your main objective, I might consider a different boat. If you want an all around great pleasure boat, I would highly recommend it!

Look under your swim deck above the drain plug, for a sticker. Should read - shut water off while engine is still running, move throttle up to several thousand RPM to blow water out of exhaust - then shut off engine. Did the engine oil flow any faster with it warm? I've been using a drill pump.
@tlwhiten14 жыл бұрын
A Boy, and His Son yes, it is more viscous when it’s warmer.

how is loading up on the trailer? easier than an IO?

Sterndrive*
@tlwhiten14 жыл бұрын
No, I would say definitely more difficult, until you get used to it. I load it where there is a lot of wind, and without the stern drive in the water, the wind pushed you sideways. The new models have a rudder to help this. Once you get used to it, you just have to keep the power in to keep it straight. Definitely not something I would not buy the boat for, but probably want to practice with it before you try it at a busy ramp.

This gets a little trickier with the 3-LED Halo Set. The Headlight Halo will turn yellow with the turn signal. The Halo in the passing lights will blink yellow with the turn signal on the side of the signal indicating the turn. I'm trying to figure out if the extra wiring... running a turn signal lead to all three LED lights... is worth the effort.
