Great review! Just got the exact same as yours today and I really appreciate your thorough demonstration as it made it much easier for me to figure mine all out! I've never owned one before because I've always paid to get my large driveway plowed but I did some math and realized this thing should pay itself off in one typical winter where I am. Now I'm just impatiently awaiting the snow! Thanks again!

I have a 2016 230P Husqvarna that I got from Lowe's. Works wonderfully. Lots of bells and whistles - powersteering (you still need to give it some muscle until you've given the driveway a once over), lights, hand warmers. No issue with auger belt thus far. No complaints. I agree that it's a little harder to start than your average pull-cord mechanism. Mine gives off lots of fumes and stinks so be aware, don't run this extensively in your garage. Not a problem once outside but it reeks when you're indoors with it.

Just purchases the St230P thru Amazon. Delivered on Thurs. and took longer to unpack than put the snowblower together! Now got to have some snow! The auger belt problem appears to be with the 2014 models and has been corrected with the 2015 models. There is a service bulletin on the problem. My local Husqvarna dealer is out of SBs but if the delivery happened to be a 2014 model, I was advised to bring it in for warranty work. 👍 Oh BTW mine is a 2015. I was thinking of a 24" but I have a lot of driveway & parking area to clear here in cntr DE.

1 recommendation! While Tate's review is very through, I would recommend using the owner's manual rather than following the "Quick Start" photos! Better detail! And I took some of the packing material under the wheels to drive off the pallet! More snow coming on Tues. Happy snow blowing!

I bought the same model from Lowes last December. Lowes assembled the machine. I brought it home and put it in the storage building. Last week we had our first snow. (20") I started the machine for the first time and got ready to clear a lot of snow. The machine started and ran fine, but only goes in reverse, no matter which gear or speed is selected. After a call to Lowes learning that they would not do anything for me, I had to track down a certified Husqvarna repair center to service the machine. My machine is currently in the shop and we are expecting more snow. Hopefully it will be covered by the warranty. It went into the shop two weeks before one year of ownership. I'm still looking forward to using it.

hi ,great vid i just got the st-224 ,i notice the snow shoot does go all the way to the left but not all the way to the right it stops at about 1 o clock position ...any vids on how to fix that ..? thanks

I would recommend removing and replacing the chute via instruction. Hopefully that will work.

+madpaddy73 Mine is the same way...did you get your fixed? I noticed another hole cut on the chute, maybe that's where the wire attaches, instead.

Uninstall the chute, and reinstall after centering the chute control lever. Mine was all the way left when I installed the chute. I centered the lever and reinstalled...JeanVie is your uncle.

Hey Tate, Great Video. How do you like it? Do you find the motor powerful enough? I have about the same size driveway and I’m looking at the Cub Cadet 3X 26” & 28” as well as a Craftsman 30” with the 357cc motor.

anthony caldi, the machine work fairly well. I wish I would have got the hydrostatic, as the friction plate drive seems to get wet once in a while and the machine doesn’t move for about 15-20 seconds. Frustrating. Engine seems powerful enough. Throws snow well, and far enough.

Does anybody know why the augerlock handle gets stuck?

It doesn’t get stuck per day, as there is a lever on the underside of the handle that keeps the auger engaged when you have the drive handle depressed. This is so you can operate chute controls without stopping.

im not happy with mine, Husqvarna makes own engine not as good as Briggs and Stratton, I wouldn't recommend it, i'm looking to trade mine in and buy another brand. I had such a hard time getting it started. In his video you can see how hard to start on pull start. Brand new it should pretty well pull start on first try.

On Amazon, some complained about the auger belt getting shredded soon after buying...have you experienced this? Also, some said the speed at the lowest level was too fast...what say you? I have an old Husq lawn mower that's amazing so was interested in this thing.

+Rick Boucher I have not experienced this. Although, we had one of the easiest winters I have experienced in about 10 years in Michigan. The lowest speed I would not consider too fast. Although, the reverse speed is painfully slow.

I saw those complaints on Amazon. They were based on 2013 or 2014 models. The manufacturer has since fixed that issue.

Absolutely true. 2015 models have the same issue and it has not been fixed. Mine was used 5 times and needs to be repaired. Local husqvarna dealer says they not issuing a recall however not been fixed. If you do not have the issue, I am happy for you. I do and it happened when 2 feet dumped in 3 days. Let's say I wish I kept my 14 year old Craftsman. It always worked. Very disappointed customer. Lowe's was great with finding a place to repair however it taking weeks for parts and etc. just not great for $1000

Drackkor We had a few blizzards last winter and she ate through the snow like a fat kid with a cupcake! I did buy chains for her this summer as she did get stuck a few times in the deeper stuff.

I know I should update with a snow test. It blows really well. They only issue I have is when it is windy and cold, snow can get on friction plate and cause snowblower to not move until wheel dries off. Usually about 15-20 seconds. Very frustrating. I wish I would have got the hydrostatic for this reason.

Husqvarna has no clue who their dealers and servicing dealers are. Put in my zip code, and a bunch of hardware stores that do NOT sell the brand pop up (never sold the brand), along with 2 service centers that closed three years ago. The website help? Good luck with that, the problem that I had has no 'links', so if you plan to use that website, make sure that when you break the snow blower, you break something that has a link to it (lol), because if you don't, forget getting a fix before winter is over. Bottom line, you will NOT be able to talk to anyone. Customer service is non-existent, best thing to do is avoid this brand period, whether it is a snowblower, motorcycle, or a hand held feather duster. Nothing but headaches trying to solve a problem or troubleshoot it.
