@@arbitersofsound Oh wow ! I have a push3 so use Ableton but my main setup is FL studio. This might be the missing piece. Inspired by the slew idea of yours also got me wanting to hook up a maths (clone for $60) on some hardware - again taking your idea of reverb shimmer and using my starlab! Thanks !

This is a very good basic introduction to filters. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for(circuit values), but I still can't believe it doesn't have more views and likes.

What's the best way to integrate regular speakers (let's say a soundbar) to a desktop with recording setup (Audio Interface + Active Speakers)? Is it by splitting the headphone out of the Audio Interface?
@arbitersofsound
@arbitersofsound 21 күн бұрын
If the interface doesnt have a digital out, I'd probably try a stereo line out first. Use a Y cable to connect 2 mono line outs to one stereo mini-jack that you can connect directly to your soundbar. If you don't have spare line outs you could try the headphones (although splitting them would become annoying especially when you want to actually use your headphones...) Last idea would be to get a small signal splitter with independent volume control for each output and connect the main out from the interface there and then connect the outputs to your different speakers.

@arbitersofsound it seems to be working fantastically! It has unlocked the touche for me. It's like accessing a new instrument. I always hated Lie! Fantastic work. I feel like this tool must be so under the radar. The touche in general just seems to not get enough love. With this tool, I think it's a game changer. Thanks again.

I think one thing you should have mentioned was headphone level. It’s quite common for people to use a headphone out when there is no line out available, and some people say this is safe as long as you keep the gain level coming out of the headphone out, very low. Another thing that is generally not clearly understood is preamp level. I have heard contradictory things about whether preamp level is the same as line level, and how these compare to the level that typically comes out of guitar pedals.

Sounds like original, i wish i can't use ableton as you) I don't figure out with the settings of synth, bass and etc, but the main problem with the record of my guitar. It has a lot of cool effects that transmitting throw usb, but when i record distortion songs it's sounds terrible while in headphones sounds good, when i record more calm guitar effects it sounds much better.

Or use the sidechain function on the stock compressor and setup a channel that feeds audio to it. Then you can choose the shape of your sidechain based on the audio channel

Very informative, thank you, but my question is: I have a guitar headphone amp (Boss Katana Go) with headphone output. I love the tones, can I use it at a live bar/open mic? This would require connecting it to a mixer. I assume I can easily do this if they have an aux in. However, how could I connect to one of the standard line inputs? (In case their mixer doesn’t have aux in)
@arbitersofsound
@arbitersofsound Ай бұрын
It is not ideal but you could use the headphone out, just make sure you start with the volume very low and raise it until the line in on the console gets a good loud signal. Also, your headphone output is mini-jack stereo unbalanced. So to go into a mixer you need to split that into two separate mono jack cables. For that you need a stereo mini-jack to 2X mono jack Y-cable (should cost less than 10$/pounds/euro).

@arbitersofsound my ears are the source for now. I haven't found any documentation, but the similarities are way too strong to be coincidental. We know Greenwood and York have done this before, so not unsurprising.

This video was actually very interesting. I'm trying to learn how components on an AC circuit work through low and high pass filters, and the abstract around frequencies is spot on with electronics! This was doubly helpful for me, because in addition to pass this class, I'm also a musician trying to record my own tracks, so this was helpful in understanding band cuts and notch filters! Thanks a billion!
