Some of these new bikes, you would need to be a Company director, or someone similarly financially placed to own one. Beautiful machines but way over priced! They are what I would call “Dream Fodder”!!

Major fail in his walkabouts for instance does NOT show close up of the technical + price information boards for each bike on display, to much shaking of camera with his sometimes quick walk around of bikes and therefore needs either an iPhone or say a DJI Action video camera which both have good image stabilisation, fails to pan out camera before approaching each manufacturer & custom builder section. Also, does NOT ask questions of the bike manufacturer representatives to get more insight in some of the bikes. Conclusion, I wish Peter Von Gromm did a UK motorcycle show video of it instead, as his videos of Japanese motorcycle shows are excellent & very informative too.

My son gave me this 100 year anniversary bike for Father’s Day and I was totally surprised. I can’t wait to spend many hours riding with my sons. The bike is so beautiful and a true work of art and design. Thank you, BMW, for making a wonderful 100 year anniversary bike.

Hi Rick, I recognise the tour windscreen on one of the bikes. I've tried an aftermarket tour screen on mine but the turbulence was even worse than the original. I wonder did you try it on highway with relatively higher speeds? Can you say it makes a difference for turbulence? I'm really having a hard time when I ride on road above 100 kmph. Thanks!

how do you dry your bike after washing? Directly after rinsing it or do you let it dry by itself? I want to avoid lime spots because we have a lot of lime in our water here in Germany.

Thinking of buying, but have reservations. Corner clearance, but think I would cope. Main concern is gear shifting, as many people have said the big cylinder can inhibit. Did you have heel, toe shift on this one?
@rick.cutler6 ай бұрын
You’re right, there isn’t a massive amount of toe clearance on the cylinder, that’s with me riding in Sidi adventure boots. The heel shift did make a big difference in allowing me to change up (and even down if you got the hang of it) and it added to the little features that make this bike stand out from the rest! I really enjoy riding these big things!

@@rick.cutler I took one out today, wearing my Red Wing Iron Rangers. Had no problem thankfully. Absolute beast of a bike. Buying it tomorrow!

The Gear shifts are spliced and adjustable. Quite simple to get right for the rider, before you go at the dealer, or at home if you buy one

I own this 100th anniversary bike. I can’t ride it until July 2024 due to a 3+ year probation in Victoria. But I often look at videos like this one to learn about the bike. And to hear about the things you love about the bike. BTW only 35 were allocated to Australia.
@rick.cutler6 ай бұрын
Wow! Lucky you for managing to get one of the few that made it there! I love the bike - it’s an experience riding one and completely different from a normal street bike, you do have to slow down for corners a little more to open them up. But the pay off is being able to open it up in the other side! The torque is addictive! The bike does have the lovely feature of rocking / leaning to the left if you rev it… lots of fun when you are at a standstill, just remember that it will pull you to the left if you are filtering through traffic and dip the clutch to give a little audible rev for the cars nearby - it might pull you into one!! 🤣👍

I'm 6ft would I be too cramped on this? What is the riding position?
@rick.cutler6 ай бұрын
Hello Chewie! I am 6ft and found the ride on this quite relaxed for a sports derived / oriented bike. I have long legs and arms which means that I can be more upright for my shoulders and reach but that usually puts my hips at an awkward angle giving me pain or pins and needles in my legs after an hour or so… I had none of those usual sports bike pains with this bike - I found the ride position was comfortable for the 90+minutes of saddle time I had in one sitting, but definitely felt like I was in an engaging riding position and very much in tune with the bike! Hope this helps!

Unfortunately not every brand wants to show up to every event… if my memory serves me correctly, Honda was only represented by 3 fireblades with a small backdrop. There was no stand, nor representatives from Honda to engage with the public. As a Honda fan I was disappointed too!

Great video! Our favourite weekend spot! Can i ask..what attachment thingy are you using for your 360? Im pillion at the moment and sick of getting hand cramp holding it haha! Thanks!
@rick.cutler6 ай бұрын
It’s simply a clamp style mount with the Ram type ball mounts - I would suggest looking closer when shopping around to find the metal ones as the plastic / rubber ones have too much flex and it can be seen in the footage. Hope this helps!

Mate love your enthusiasm, and appreciate the time you have invested. With taking anything away from you ,I'd just like to ask , is there some reason you don't want ,us the viewer to see certain details on the bikes? Because it's making me dizzy, its like your on a length of elastic. And you keep washing in and out. ,it's impossible to focus to see any detail. Like I said appreciate your enthusiasm.

Thanks for the feedback! We were pushed for time at this event and just wanted to capture as much of it as possible! There were so many bikes there and we could have made a 15 minute video on each bike as the designs and features of each build were incredible and so deeply detailed - we had to make sure that we captured every bike on show so that no build was missed out! Apologies for the late reply!

Thanks for the commentary, I currently have the R18b, two years and 34000 miles now. Was so happy I decided to look at the 100 year as my second around town bike. Great ride, my first road bike after an enduro in the early 70’s was a hard tail chopper, I’ve progressed and nearing 70 of age I can say thanks to BMW and congrats on 100 years.
@rick.cutler7 ай бұрын
The R18 ‘s are such a fantastic bike - I feel like they can appeal to more riders because it is so easy to ride, and has the uncanny ability to put a smile on your face regardless of your age. I hope the 100 years brings you more miles and memories!
