Always loved OG Taste, and remember being SO upset when they drastically changed it for MPP (especially after learning it was an in-studio decision), but eventually I came around, and it is my ATF AC song (tied with I Think I Can)...both songs are peak AT/PB polyphony; such beguiling melodies. I also totally agree with @lightspersonalacc and their assessment of 'Dancer' - I was never super-attached to the boot, and hearing this version makes me wish they'd taken a lighter approach (maybe combined the two versions a bit more). Really gorgeous! One of my main gripes with AC is that they often soften the rougher edges (Dave has talked about intentionally doing this for a smoother listening experience) on their albums...I can think of many examples ('Mercury Man' album version being a sore-thumb examp) -- Brother Sport is a big one for me. I never liked that they softened the screams into synth-sounding 'woos'....totally neutered the insane energy of the song for me. (ditto for Merc Man). On the flip side, this mix showed me that they actually improved 'Almost Frightened' by a mile for the stu-jo version! Just wanted to share - I could go on and on.... thanks for posting!

the softer 'drop'(for lack of a better word) in 'Dancer' (In the Flowers) is so chilling. I love the studio version of course, with the bombastic reverb drenched toms and whatnot, but this version feels more psychedelic and eye-opening. It's less like a party and more like a revelation.

i love these early version compilations, but have you thought of doing some sort of "later version" compilation? for example, like how many songs off of Sung Tongs got updated renditions for the feels - mpp era tours (who could win a rabbit probably the most known, but the spooky versions of good lovin outside and kids on holiday from the 2006 starlight ballroom show really stick out)
