This was right around the time I first discovered Animal Collective, a very magical time. My first show was probably 2005 at the Black Cat in DC and I've seen them half a dozen times over the years. It was a very transformative experience hearing these songs (and older ones) played live in soundscapes that you could have only dreamed of.

Glad to know they played Must Be Treeman when I was born. Since I'm already here might as well share that these performances actually taught me that the essence of a song and music lies in itself, not its official studio release. I had the misfortune of losing a device that had many finished and unfinished original songs, each belonging to their own album. Although I'm not sure if I intended to release, I had put my heart and soul into music production for 4 years, with personal vocals and instrumentals. I was deeply impacted at the loss, since I listened to my own albums almost everyday for some time. Animal Collective inspired me to let go of what can't be brought back yet hold on to what I have left and look forward to what else can be made.

Listen to the Grateful Dead man. Or one of the many “jambands”/improv rock bands. For what these guys do? It’s the Dead, krautrock, and noise bands style improv

Thanks for posting! I gotta admit, a lot of this is incomprehensible to me. Like listening to an argument through a wall or two. Is this what people who don't listen to AnCo hear when they listen to the recorded stuff? haha The inclusion of "I need to see a doctor" in the same rhythm as "Would you like to see me often" in grass is hilarious to me. I love it.

That's a pre-recorded song title I wish made it to the final cut. I understand why they may have not thought it was appropriate for the record label but to me it's kinda perfect.

Does anyone know the alternate lyrics in the mid-portion of Flesh Canoe?
@greentypewriters10 Жыл бұрын
No idea still but from trying to sound it out best I can come up with is: "These are our fingers so dried and so long All these are toes cause I have cleaned them off Drying your arms so I can cut your hairs" In any event I really love this version of Flesh Canoe.
