Come to Pdx and see the open Fentenyl markets, closed multispectality medical facilities, upscale luxury eatery vs. Homeless camps across the street and ongoing violent crime...created by the majority of voters?

Back in the 70's and 80's when Portland still had parking meters, we would walk around all night long and never worry at all about safety concerns. Portland was active and just fun. But those days are long over. I live about 75 miles from Portland and I never go to Portland in the evening now. Today. I travel to Thailand and I feel so much safer walking around at day time or night. Plus a hotel there cost about $25 a night there or about $700.00 for a whole month. Things just cost too much in America today. But most big cities in the US are just not very safe now. Too many idiots that don't want to work and just want to make trouble,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've been hoping it does. The prices are ridiculous for working people, young people trying to get into a home, middle class families. Homes whose values are really 175k are now 400k. Tiny places , condos, even trailers. It's robbery.

I live in Southern California. Grew up here. Raised my two grown boys and they want to move to OR and I plan to follow. My kids no way can afford CA. I want them both to be homeowners and you just can't in CA anymore. It's beyond ridiculous! Can't wait to kick CA to the curb! Lol

I'm not everywhere at once, but I do get around some of the "lesser" parts of east Portland. It stopped getting worse about 2 years ago, and has been steadily improving. As far as visible houselessness and drug use, things are undeniably better.

I grew up in the Dallas area and have lived in both Austin and Portland. People think that Texas is so cheap but when you really look at it, it really isn’t. The quality of life in Portland and Oregon in general is so much better than Texas as well. I am currently on the East Coast but am planning to move back to Portland next year. I will take the Portland area and the state income tax over Texas any day of the week.

$500k for a starter house, median household income $85k for Portland area. Median price to income ratio is 7.2x (it was 3.7x 50 years ago). That's your problem and it is nationwide. Rates have simply normalized, they are not high.

Don't overlook Amity as another rural town in the area. Similar to Yamhill, not as big as Carlton but closer to Salem if you need to travel south.
@SyringaBoutiquePromoProducts

Yamhill does NOT have an adequate water supply to accommodate more homes. We were at level 2 water restriction this year and it wasn’t the first. The city council vetoed a new housing development due to this urgent issue. The planning commission voted no on the capacity to build more houses. Yamhill’s fire district can’t answer the calls now as needed. We don’t have a sufficient volunteer base. Don’t move here!

Gaston does not have a Human Bean, we do have a fantastic coffee shop but is not the human bean, just better. We also no longer have a libary. Hagg lake is not the only thing Gaston is known for. Also races in banks are Saturday nights. I get what you're trying to do, but it sounds a lot like mockery of our rural communities.

You should show the county map of the US states and voting results along side that map you showed us @13:44. Then people would know why the Oregon counties of Wallowa, Union, Baker, Malheur, Grant, Harney, Morrow, Wheeler, Crook, Lake, Sherman, Jefferson and Klamath have all voted to leave Oregon for Idaho. Why pay those high taxes when there is no representation. The people of the metro mostly have the illness Well done on video quality.

Moved from PDX to Vancouver WA in 1985. Instant dumpy house rent reduction from $335 to $175. Moved $16/hr job from PDX to Vanc in 1990. Instant roughly $1/hr raise because no state income tax. Unfortunately today though. . not such a difference.
