Jason was expendable to james and lars. Gotta love Robert and Cliff, but Jason Newstead was a huge part of their success, and everyone knows that he is THE Metallica bassist. Cliff would not have been down with anything they've done to make it huge in mainstream. Jason was the right guy to fill the spot and take them to the success of being the greatest of all time. James just can't help but be an asshole, making his little comments the whole time between songs. He clearly didn't want this because he can't admit that he was wrong back then. Maybe sing like you're getting paid and wanna be there fella, and then the fans will like you as much as they like Jason. Lars has no hope of that 😂.

The lack of enthusiasm that James puts into his performances in his later "sober" years is sad. His intensity and putting his voice out there is what made metallica what they are. Now its cringy, while people pay $400+ per ticket to see him casually sing their greats like a clown at karaoke. Metallica has become the roadside tourist trap of music, and that hurts considering they have always been my favorite since birth.

Credit where it's due for covering one of the best Nazareth songs to get so little notice over the years, but this was rather shambolic. I'd really like to hear it done by either Metallica with much more practice first or from another metal band who could get it right. Nazareth themselves apparently seldom performed it live.
