When I was growing up I always enjoyed watching W.C. Fields. He was hilarious and was as good as any comedian in his day. The Three Stooges, Lauel and Hardy, Abott and Costello to name a few. I think he really was an alcoholic.

BRILLIANT FUKKING MOVIE !!!!!!!!. Thank you for the video, well worth the watch. I was in Beaufort a few moons ago and what just happened to drive down the road.... but one of the actual Interceptors from the film. What an absolute thrill.... the guy who owned it a awesome too and allowed us to take photos. You used to be able to see Max's house from the road, in fact it even had a sign that said as much. Too many tourists I guess. Used to drive past it everyday for years.

Fun fact: after the Little River Band rejected a batch of his ballads for being “too sappy” a distraught Toecutter gave up songwriting and formed a roving gang of marauding degenerate bikers. And the rest is fiction.

As a resident of Craigieburn for over 53 years born and raised here, I definitely wouldn't listen to that Arab. And if I knew you where in town I would have pointed out the Craigieburn wreckers site that was in the movie for you. (a little side note anyone reading this comment if you want to go to the Craigieburn lookout on Mount Ridley Road opposite the old farmhouse don't go there at night the young Arabs that get up there we'll run you out which is sad because that's the best time to be there)

You have to pay now??? 🙄 that’s kinda sad. Back in the day you just rocked up and explored. I don’t recall any signs either but then again, my friend and I took the off the track thing to heart. We didn’t follow any set path, we scrambled up through the rocks which, I’m hindsight, was probably fairly risky considering there was hug a rock and pull yourself up by your arms only, and numerous sudden precipices that came out of nowhere. It’s a haunting place, stunningly beautiful and moody.

I was 8 when it was being filmed and can remember the buzz of having movie stars in Melbourne. Dad knew someone who knew someone etc. Mum wasn’t impressed with Ava because she stole Sinatra from his first wife. It was a very different time. My dad was a member of the Commercial Travellers Association and , with me in tow, would sometimes catch up with his friends at the club on a Saturday for a drink and lunch before going on to a football match. It was always referred to as ‘ The CTA’. I remember it exactly as in the film and it makes me think of the waiter bringing me a lemon squash.

I have a strong memory of Harkaway from when I hiked through it as a Boy Scout in the early ‘60s ( up Harkaway rd , along King rd and Holden drive and then on through the bush ). It was all total countryside then and a long way from suburbia. So, it was pretty vivid when it when it appeared in the book when I read it a few years later.

This is an awesome video. Ty for sharing. I live approx 15 mins drive from Emu Creek Bridge and had always heard some scenes from Mad Max were filmed close by. Now I know! Your efforts to align with modern day reality and the many movie scenes is fantastic. Sorry Im only seeing it now. Will be watching all youve shared as you cover so many classic Melb locations. I too love watching movies/tv shows filmed in Melb. I watched the movie Spotswood (The Efficiency Expert) for the first time recently and didnt realise the Spotswood Pumping Station appears in 2 Aussie movies. Im thinking there could possibly be more.

This was fun to watch, thank you for sharing. I remember going to hanging rock on a school trip. I'm not sure if we watched the movie beforehand, but we all knew it. Half of us ran around yelling 'Miranda, don't go up there, Miranda,', and exploring trying to uncover the mystery, and find hidden secrets. The other half were terrified to leave the sight of the teachers. I don't how we 'explorers' didn't manage to get lost ourselves, we would have been no more than 8 years old at the time.

The school in the book was based on the then nearby Clyde Girls School, which later moved to Geelong in the mid-1970s. The school seen in the movie, as is my understanding, was in the Adelaide Hills. At the time the movie was filmed, the original wooden Clyde school buildings were a bit of a mess. I can understand why they didn't film there. After Clyde vacated and become Geelong Grammar Girls School, the school premises were taken over by Braemar College, which was my old school. It has since become school tradition on the final day of the year 12s they all picnic at Hanging Rock. Most come back. Just to confirm, as some people don't seem to realise, the story is ENTIRELY FICTIOUS. That means it was all made up, and was not based on any events, not even loosely. I can assure you, if any of this BS was real, school kids would grasp it and magnify it way out of proportion, with all sorts of silly stories. And there just wasn't. We all knew it was just a book.

Oh Good. Now I have watched this and don't feel I know anything more than I did before I watched it. This is typical of historical research about literature. Everyone wants to know is it real or isn't it. One thing that should be clear about our recent election, Americans don't want facts they want fantasy. Unfortunately PAHR gives them neither.
