@@DeadReckon I was hoping you still had it, and would sell the smog pump bracket. I need one to get my D-100 inspected, seems they check that stuff now, always passed before without the smog pump but not now. Got a pump but no bracket to mount the damned thing. Turns out to be a difficult piece to find for a /6, nobody kept them. Salute, to changing engines in the driveway. Been there done that twice. (different vehicles)

@@tonyunderwood9678 Ah gotcha, they don't care about smog pumps around here, if my truck came with one it was deleted way before I got it. They do perform a visual inspection for a cat sometimes, but they don't do emissions sniffing or care about smog or EGR.
@tonyunderwood967823 күн бұрын
@@DeadReckon Watch where you take it for a state inspection. I'm in Garden City, took my truck to Kelly's on G.C. Blvd. They gigged it for not having a smog pump. Hell, it never had one long as I've had it, previous owner likely removed it. I guess I could always look around for another inspection spot and have it re-inspected, although Kelly's said that the inspection places are being told to check stuff like that. Tacky.. I mean damn it's a 39 year old truck and they wanna flunk it for not having a smog pump, and only northern VA. actually sniffs for smog, not around here. Thinking maybe Kelly's is being a bit nitpicky... They actually said it would be legal to tag and drive it as an antique but if it's registered for standard plates (this one is) it's illegal to operate it without the smog pump. I mean wtf... Might end up finding some other inspection station that's not so gestapo'ish if I can't turn up a smog pump mount bracket.

@@tonyunderwood9678 Never used them, don't want to put the people I do use out on the internet either JIC. If you happen to catch me at home one day I can recommend a few places to go for inspection. I won't name the shop but I had one in trouble with the State Police over my '93 F150, it had a courtesy light over the bed, not a 3rd brake light, failed me for a 3rd brake light being out... I never had RoadRage until I moved to Roanoke. Worst drivers I've ever seen. It's like a bunch of Helen Keller, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles's on the road. My insurance agent said Roanoke has the highest insurance rates in VA which is sad. Loved the video
@johnbrown55652 ай бұрын
Just did my '93. The pins instead of bolts are a poor design and a pain. Spray with brake cleaner before beginning. Then with WD 40 around the pins. The fine brake dust is very toxic wear gloves and a mask. A punch of the correct size will knock the pins out, not vise grips or a screw driver. They will punch out toward the truck. Actually they will punch out either direction. Put an old brake pad across the cylinder and press them in with the C clamp. It's a good idea to repack the bearings while rebuilding brakes. Also remove the cap on the master cylinder. That way when the cylinder is compressed you will not leak fluid or put too much pressure on the brake lines. I'm sure he is a good old boy shade tree mechanic, but hope these suggestions help a newbie. Pads are not difficult with a little forthought. The old style shoes with all the springs and levers are an invention of the devil.

The electronic ignition box may be faulty, the only way to really tell since you're not getting spark but are getting coil voltage is to swap it out. Great cars but the way the valve seats are designed, one of them will almost certainly fail at some point. They still sell refabbed heads for these which correct the issue, must get if you plan on relying on this. Dropped valve seat can cause a lot of damage. They are otherwise really nice cars. It needed a new set of tires, and the AC compressor was no good. But otherwise, it was excellent all the way. Now have 145,000 miles--no problems, and that 3800V6 apparently lasts forever.
