True Greats , Sly and Mama Cass !! The Best !!

As much as I love my cassie, she should’ve known better than crash-dieting!:(❤❤❤ I’ve always thought she had bad eating habits as a kid and this vid confirmed this; when I saw her overweight mother I wasn’t surprised! But sad she died soo soon after this… I was just looking for the latest footage of cass and I found it…❤❤❤ thank you for sharing:)

She was the Spittin image of her mom and you could see how proud her mother was of Cass she was a supremely talented human being.

Sadly Cass was wrong about her earlier collapse. In reality she had probably suffered a minor heart attack and her heart muscle steadily deteriorated from then onward. At least she died in her sleep and never knew what hit her.

God, what a beautiful, positive human being she was! Such a tragedy that we lost her.

You people are missing the context here... previous to this, Mike and his Co-host that week, James Coco... were talking about weight struggles and dieting, and Mike had been talking about this own struggles, and the opening comment was about him not feeling self conscious about it because the two other guests on the show were heavier than he was.

Cass Elliot had too much character and personality to be offended by "fat" jokes. If anything, she was the first to laugh about them. If she was alive today, she would think that the whole "choke on a half ham sandwich" was hilarious. You people really need to get over yourselves.

Just curious if you can remix the M&P stereo version to just have the instrumental and backing vocals? I remember watching a video of just that audio and I can’t find it anywhere.

What's interesting is the first time the M&Ps recorded California Dreaming it was as backing singers for Barry McGuire! Obviously by the time this was taped their version was the one that hit. I read that on the stereo mix you can still hear his voice on the M&Ps version if you listen closely enough.

When Steve Allen hosts this they play his song

This sketch is fantastic on so many levels. 1. Cass Elliot jokes about her weight and seems to enjoy being a comedian. 2. Harvey Korman comes in at the end. This was three years before his portrayal of the leacherous "Hedley Lamarr" in "Blazing Saddles". 3. This series episode aired December 1, 1971. The TV series M*A*S*H started airing September 17, 1972. Why do I mention this? Well, the priest entering is played by William Christopher, in a similar fashion that he would play Father Mulcahy throughout that one series. Is this sketch an audition for that role? Remember that he only started to portray Father Mulcahy from the second episode of M*A*S*H. 🙂
@pera.j.andersson2 ай бұрын
It's nice that the priest believes the two women are "young people". At the time of the sketch, Cass Elliot was 30 years, Carol Burnett 38 and William Christopher 39. 🙂

This song is about Laurel Canyon in California. They used to bring young girls up there for the Hollywood elites and politicians to molest.

This song is about trafficked children being taken to parties of the elite in Laurel Canyon. The band may not have known why all these young girls were being brought there…. So now it’s eerie to listen to.

I never really noticed she had a little bit of a lisp 🥰 adorable, just like Karen Carptenter which is ironically to me because I always compared the 2 of them, both beautiful contralto's and both passed at age 32 of due to weight issues 😢❤
