Just bought the GS1200 2018 first time ever riding a GS .. and everything what u said its just full of bs .. high beam lights are exactly the same as every standard bikes .. 12 buttons? 🤔 Foglights are just on top of the controls .. 4 blinkers same position as every bike .. i own 3 bikes all different styles. My honest review i found the GS spot on to ride. The only down side its the weiight when u standing still. Disappointing video .. probably ur first bike with such advanced tech 😅😅 next time drive it longer not just for a test drive. Sad review .. as every machine before ride u gotta know the basic, the dealer tech spent 5 min showing me some of the info most important .. thats what it takes to "learn" the basic of a GS1200 with a TFT screen ..

I have a question, can I connect fuse block to motorcycle kill switch and use it for accessories only ..Instead of tapping into the motorcycle wiring I can go straight to the battery and switch it off when not used ??
@BNAdv5 ай бұрын
I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question... if you install the fuse block to the bike's kill switch, you are tapping into the bike's wiring. On the other hand, on the fuse block you have the option of having the accessories always on, or just on when the bike is running, so effectively, you can use it straight to the battery and have the accessories running only when the bike is in use. I hope it helped.

Hi! Thank for reaching out! No, my dream continues very much alive, but the travelling dream, definitely on hold. I've been teaching ADV riding since 2012, and in 2018/19 when I came back from the first part of the trip, a few things happened. I realised that the trip as it was going, wasn't making me happy, so, definitely an issue (I'lll finish it, but in a much different way). I needed money, so I went back to what I knew, teaching. Since then, opened my school in Portugal BN Adv, wrote my first book about the basics of ADV riding (working on the paperwork to start selling in English as we speak) and had 2 kids. So dreams are still getting ticked, but some are on hold. I definitely want to start filming again, have a few pages of videos I would like to get done, but it's not high on priority right now, and sadly. Sooner or later, you'll get to see my face on the screen again :)

@BNAdv Жыл бұрын
hey! I bought it from a company in Brazil, called Gilimoto. It doesn't fit perfectly, there is some love that has to go into assembling it, and the fit in the end is not a dream. I have another friend with the same tank, and both bikes look the same. That being said, it is 22.5L, so... I never managed to get the last 2L or so out of the tank, as those sit lower than the pump, but that is still 20L of usable fuel (for me, my friend never complaint about that) so that is a huge increase over stock.

KTM is generations ahead of the GS...the suspension is phenomenal, the power delivery is extraterrestrial, the engine is alive and makes you smile (instead of being dull like the GS)...the KTM eats the offroad as the GS owners eat pancakes in Starbucks... The point is the GS is good at a certain age when you actually just want to chill and let the bike rides you because you get tired quickly....

You have done an excellent job on the bike. Well done! May I ask your opinion on progressive springs? Hyperpro/touratech offer a kit for this bike tha even works with the esa. Do you think it will be a good update for someone who doesnt want to spend a lot of money for suspension work?
@BNAdv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the words! For sure, the correct spring rate on progressive springs and setting it up with the right oil viscosity and level for your objectives is a game changer. Even if you already have progressive springs from the get-go, getting the suspension professionally tunned for you is some of the best money you can spend on a bike IMO. Plus, suspension decay is progressive, so you just get used to the bike getting worst and worst without you feeling, so even without any changes just having the suspension serviced is an insane update

Hello Alex, That one is pretty much stock, other than suspension changes. It doesn't take much for those big machines to go off-road, even when racing. The ones used by Tony with the AT, or Tarres with the T7, well, those are one offs, but for the normal Joe racer, they preform really really well.

@@BNAdv normally I ride 1200gs both road/off-road, no issues. Regarding 850s, we have 7 of them. 2 of them used for off-road trips time to time. During one ride my colleague burned the clutch on uphill. I didn't see anything outstanding while he was going uphill. Did a couple "burnouts" and then clutch was dead. Mine almost died while pulling the dead bike to asphalt. Nevertheless it took both of us to the van. Also the same bike already had issue with the clutch. It sucked water while river crossing. Nothing serious once again. Both incidents were cought on a camera and we've changed both clutches at bmw via warranty's. After the second burned utch I ordered aftermarket clutch. Obrigado.
@BNAdv2 жыл бұрын

Now, I also say the 14.7 its not the AFR you want for your bike, and I even show an image of an engine map set between 13.8 and 13.3, for instance, so.. @@BNAdv I took a chance, I managed to Splice into the USB port the motorcycle brings. So easy I couldn't believe. It was harder to to snake the wiring harness.
@BNAdv2 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons why these kinds of fuse boxes are great is that you tap directly into the battery and the fuse box works as the switched wire. With this particular box I can choose if the accessories are always "live" or if they only work when the bike is on. On my XT the box I have does not do that, so I do have a relay connected so that the box only makes the accessories live when the bike is running, but that is bushcraft mechanics 😅 In theory, you can pull energy from wherever you want, but do be careful. The wire from lets say the break light, or the USB port are not designed to handle the demands of several accessories connected pulling energy from the same source. I've managed a garage for a few years where we focused on adv and enduro bikes, and multiple bikes showed up over the years with completely burned down electrical systems because they were running accessories from spliced light or horn wires, and the system purely caught fire. Luckily I've never seen a bike consumed by flames due to that, but I believe luck was the reason as the wiring was toasted. So you can pull power from anywhere, but I can't advise it.
