Do you offer mentorship and fellowship/hands-on opportunities? I'm a soon-to-be MHA graduate and alumni of Western Governors University. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, and some background in Journalism and Media. I've worked as an Operations Manager in Patient Access and Revenue Cycle in the Healthcare system setting for over 5 years in Atlanta, before relocating to Dallas to complete my Master's. I have revenue cycle, patient access experience, ambulatory (specialty and primary care), central scheduling, healthcare transportation experience, business, ministry, and public speaking experience. I have been working to get into another system here in Dallas, but have been temporarily unsuccessful. The system in Atlanta that I worked for is an urban hospital, and considered the #1 city hospital in the state. It is also the #1 Trauma Hospital of our region. My goal is to become a CEO of a healthcare system and an itinerant keynote speaker one day. Similar to you, I hope to integrate my love and passion for psychology and mental health advocacy into the work that I do as a Healthcare System CEO. You talked about joining associations and getting a mentor. I am preparing to join a few associations that I have researched and feel would be a good cultural and pathway fit for me. However, as it relates to obtaining a mentor... I've had a hard time obtaining one that would be willing to help get me to high level executive and C-suite roles, and ultimately to the CEO seat. Do you personally offer mentorship/fellowship opportunities? Or would you be willing to share strategy on how to meet/land a mentor/fellowship opportunity in this space?

One of the foundational elements of hospital growth is recruitment and retention of nursing. I am curious how you see the current and future demands for nursing playout. It feels like the market demand for nursing is high. However, I have yet to see a proactive approach towards recruitment in terms of nursing.

Hello! I errand my doctorate in physical therapy from WASHU School of Medicine in 2020, and I have been a practicing within the Piedmont Hospital network for the last two years. I became interested in healthcare management since I started servicing three of Piedmont hospitals. One point that you mentioned was making sure the prospective MHA/MBA program has a strong network. So, hello! In saying that, would you suggest that I look into matriculating into WASH U program or one within my geographical location which is Georgia now?

I have a masters in social work, a lot of other colleagues (MSW) are nursing home administrators. do you recommend going for an MBA/MHA or is it possible to become a CEO with an MSW with continuing education and experience. Currently my position gives me responsibilities outside of traditional social work like admissions, prior auth and utilization management. Any recommendations on getting business experience?

Super informative video. It's great to hear that you're a doctor of psychology (rather than a medical doctor) who has managed to rise up to the position of a hospital CEO. I'm currently completing a PhD in AI applied to healthcare and have a lot of ambition to become a CEO in the healthcare space. Pharma and biotech are exciting in their own right, but I am also interested in business that are more patient service-based, such as hospitals, medical centres and care homes. In any case, I'd love to make a huge contribution.
