One of the foundational elements of hospital growth is recruitment and retention of nursing. I am curious how you see the current and future demands for nursing playout. It feels like the market demand for nursing is high. However, I have yet to see a proactive approach towards recruitment in terms of nursing.

This was really helpful for me, as I am still unsure of what path I want to take in the health administration field. After watching this, I’m not sure I want to be a hospital CEO lol 😬, but I will always keep my options open as I grow and develop. I enjoy listening to the way you present information and I always learn so much from your videos. You would be a great mentor! Could you possibly do a video on some ways a new grad could develop experience and skills to get hired on as a CEO of hospital or even just an administrator of any healthcare facility? I’ve heard it’s difficult to get hired on in those positions due to lack of leading experience.

Hi Erin, it's great hearing from you! I'm glad I did not scare you away too much! I did want to give everyone an honest perspective so everyone knows what they are getting into! But most importantly, it's a wonderful career path - so that is the main take away! The CEO job is challenging but so rewarding. I love that idea for a video! Let me get to working on it. I will tell you that the first CEO job is the toughest to get - but there are definitely steps you can take to put yourself in the best spot to achieve that first CEO job.

Thank you so much. I'll try to get some more out. It's so tough to do so while working as a CEO - there just aren't enough hours in the day!

I love this video😀 😍. I'm never going to be a CEO but I can learn from you as a CEO to help promote better quality of care as a charge nurse, floor nurse and the allied health department as an instructor .. the best help to the top comes from the bottom. I love my bottom 'bunk" per-sé. May God bless you 🙏. stay humble and kind ✨️.

I love this comment! Thank you! Being a CEO is about being a leader. That is exactly the same for a charge nurse - you are a leader in that role!

Dr. Comer, I am so incredibly inspired by your videos. I am currently studying Health Services Management and have 5 years of experience in supervising staff at medical billing office for a cranial remolding orthotics company. My dream is to one day be part of a leadership time (maybe CEO?) at a children's hospital. Would it be possible for me to reach out to you to make sure that I'm on the right path to achieve my goals?

Hi Tiffany! Thank you for the kind words! I'm so glad the videos are helpful. I'm trying to get some more released but there are just so many hours in the day! What an exciting career path for you. It sounds like you are doing everything right to get there. Sure, send me an email!

Do you recommend this career for a mother of three? Or is it more for someone without family life? It sounds like there’s no time for family
@dr.jeffcomer51852 жыл бұрын
No! I absolutely recommend it. Honestly, any career that pays six figures is challenging, but I know many, many women (and men) who are moms (and dads) who make it work! It is not easy, but I assure you that you can to it! Time management becomes the most crucial aspect. So, don't let that dissuade you!
