Thank you for posting this sir. My 2017 wrangler started doing the same thing a couple days ago. Same wheel and all. It’s’ fine going to work when it’s cooler but coming home in the heat it starts seizing up about 3/4 of the way home. Pulling to the right, smelling the burning smell and super hot rotor when I get home. Good job. Hope it held out for you!

God your a fool !!! seized calipers ALWAYS RE SEIZE and you never never never make contact with the piston in the caliper with the bear metal of the C clamp you use an old pad or a caliper tool. You got so lucky I can only see you doing harm to your self and you jeep in the future. GO TO A MECHANIC BECAUSE YOUR NOT ONE!!!!

Just happened to me literally yesterday. Jeep barely wanted to move. I was only a block away and limped home. No messing around. Ordered new one. They only last so long, and 100,000 miles...that's good enuf. Don't want future issues

Can you send outgoing APRS messages from within APRSDroid with this config? Or is the radio one-way with RX data packets only?

*When you pressed on the brakes to see if that caliper would move did you replace the cap on the brake fluid reservoir first?*

No, pretty sure you keep that off until you start it back up. The whole idea is to release pressure ! Hope this helps

always compress piston at the center or put a pad againt it and compress, pressing at edge wil causr piston to get jammed or tear the seal on piston, always go straight inwards!!

Mines doing the exact same thing. It works fine when it's cooled down. About 15 minutes of driving its dragging again.

For those still watching. A simpler way is to use an 8 pin to 6 pin converter cable and a 6 pin cable for and with a mobilnkd tnc. This will send it via Bluetooth to your device. Works great. Thanks for showing the settings.

I tried to use aprs Droid via Bluetooth snd hardwire but the aprsdroid software doesn't recognize the USB and will stop running as soon as I start it. Similar with the Bluetooth. How dud you get aprsdroid yo work with the ftm400? Thanks KQ4ELY. Mike

If the caliper is that hard to push in with a C-clamp, it's obviously seized. Time to replace it. Also, you should push in on the center of the piston, not the edge. Get on the highwas for a while. It will seize up again.

Inherit with the Jks. Jeep cut corners and use plastic pistons. Slightest amount of debris in the system causes the calipers the bind. You’ll need to replace them.

You need to open the bleeder screw while doing this. You really don't want to push that old fluid back through your master cylinder. I made that mistake and had to replace the master cylinder before.

I just turned 69 and that was the worst winter weather I have ever seen in Texas! In fact, it tied records set in the late 1800's for the lowest temperature ever seen in the Brazos Valley. Wonderful views of my favorite park. Hope you hiked Dog Canyon and Devils Den from the 9 point draw site. Do you still like the TetonX?

Didn't get any hiking in on that trip, but I'll plan to check it out next time. That site was pretty epic in it's own way. And I LOVE the TetonX. I need to do a two-year update video on it.

Just a couple of things. I just bought my FTM 400 with an internal Bluetooth card. You used a BT serial adapter. Was there a reason why you didn’t use an internal card? Second, APRS droid website says it’s no longer supporting the software, and someone in the comments said it doesn’t work past Android 9. What version of Android are you using? Thanks.

I’m curious how well your jeep tows the trailer. My wife and I just bought our first wrangler, and I wouldn’t think the 3500 lbs tow rating would be enough. Perhaps your tow rating is higher?

It's not fixed. But on the trail or you just need time to replace it this is how you do it. But this is a sign it's time to replace your caliper. And always replace them both. But I'm glad you made the video, it will help someone out in a bind. But they aren't fixed, they're dying. It's it's just easier to buy new than rebuild a caliper. 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm late to the show, but what kind of boon docking longevity do you get on the refridgerator/freezer system? Does solar keep you up and running very long? Can you add batteries if needed (based on the space they allot for that)?. Looks like a great rig. Did you need to "comfy up" the bedding?

@TechandTrails
@TechandTrails 3 жыл бұрын
It's from Cruise N Comfort, and it works reasonably well enough to make it comfortable at night for sleeping, but don't expect it to freeze you out of the trailer. During the heat of the day, you can only really expect about 20 degrees below ambient temps.
