The mahu had their place in our community. We all had struggles growing up - no one was spared. That’s life. The mahu was an unspoken understanding- we knew who were mahu and that was that. There really were no political or cultural agenda, we just lived and survived. Today, there’s too much emphasis on supposedly cultural or political definitions and roles of mahu. Maybe it’s the times that we live in and it seems more complicated. We loved in a simpler time and it was less complicated and easier to deal with. No need one hotline - we all knew our place.

does cancer need an excuse to perpetuate itself? it only needs a host. likewise, we know from science everybody is male and female, and everybody is either one or the other, but not everybody is mahu. im sure kumu hina has done more for homosexuals across the world than she has done for hawaiians. i think if you go to school as the wrong gender, you dont deserve to be bullied, it also shouldnt mean your entitled to a special place in society. luke 22 3] Then entered 'the spirit' into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. [4] And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
