Would a bad stator cause over charging i have over 20volts at my battery i have already replaced the regulator multiple times 1990 kawasaki bayou 300 4x4
@Rmstatorinc9 күн бұрын
Good question. No a stator cannot cause overcharging. This is pretty much always a regulator failing issue. To be safe you should perform a full resistance/grounding/voltage test on the stator (per your service manual or our troubleshooting chart), but it should be a regulator issue.

Is there a MOSFET regulator that will work with a single phase stator like on older Skidoo sleds?
@Rmstatorinc9 күн бұрын
We have some Single phase MOSFETS available, like our RM30925 Harley Davidson regulator. Otherwise you can use a 3 phase MOSFET regulator and leave 1 phase unplugged if necessary.

@Rmstatorinc9 күн бұрын
13V at idle on a single phase old Polaris system is OK. You should see increase with RPM however, up to 14V+ if the battery is fully charged and in good shape.

There are a few more options. Use a peak voltage adapter in combination with a multimeter. Use oscilloscope to measure peak to peak voltage. The process of elimination is the most cost-effective solution and is also effective. Hope this helps someone.
@Rmstatorinc23 күн бұрын
Thanks, great points to add. Most home mechanics don't have an oscilloscope, and lots don't have a peak volt tester, so the video wasn't based on that kind of testing. We have a PVA available. There are lots of cheap scopes available on Amazon now, so that is a great tool as well.

@RmstatorincАй бұрын
Yes, it wasn't sorted out yet at the time we filmed this. We do not have an RMSTATOR DC CDI box available yet. We recommend using the Ignitech CDI box from Spectrum Moto. They have it ready to plug in and go on the XR650R.

Always remember to keep a healthy battery on your vehicle motorcycle whatever cuz it can cause the stator to go bad
@RmstatorincАй бұрын
This is a common misconception. A bad battery will not kill the stator, but the charging system of course can not work correctly. Always use a good battery!

If i install your bypass regulator the ECM still recieves power for other functions? Or is it just a fancy fuse block. My current ecm has a bad regulator. Or should i just install your new ecm for my 2005 Polaris sportsman 400.
@RmstatorincАй бұрын
Yes you can use our bypass regulator on any Sportsman, it will only bypass the regulator inside the ECM. The ECM still separately receives battery power for its other functions.

Hi, I would recommend checking the RED wire on your Spectrum CDI. It sounds like you are likely not powering it with +12V correctly. You can contact us at [email protected].

How did you unplug the stator? Did you use screw driver? When you unplugged the regulator rectifier, did you press down on the socket, or you just pulled it out. I am trying to figure out how to unplug the regulator rectifier. I do not think it is easy to unplug both of them. Thanks in advance.
@Rmstatorinc2 ай бұрын
I am usually able to unplug the stator by hand, but if it is too difficult I use a small screwdriver or pick to depress the locking tab. Sometimes when they are old the plastic can be pretty tough to move the lock. Just be gentle and use an appropriate tool and it will work fine!
@thangnguyen-tf4yo2 ай бұрын
@@Rmstatorinc I used the flat head screw driver to try to depress the locking tab but I still could not make it. Eventually I used the knife to cut the lock of the old stator plastic.
@Rmstatorinc2 ай бұрын
That can work. I have seen many cases where the plastic clip is basically stuck from heat causing it to melt slightly into the housing. A knife can be required in this situation.

HI, i have the same 2009 Gen 1 Versys 650. What is the gauge of the RMStator copper winding? Is it 14 gauge ? I think the OEM Kawasaki is 15G, correct if im wrong? Also , do RMStator has the Series type R/R for the Versys 650? Thanks

Sorry we don't publish our winding specifications on our stators. The Versys 650 stator is very similar to OEM. Yes we have a series RR that will work fine but you will have to change the plugs to match.

Sorry I don't have that info on the bike in the video.
@coldpizza2.7k262 ай бұрын
Thanks for the explanation. My bike reads about 14.1 when starting and after running for about 20-40 minutes the voltage drops to 12.2 volts (my dealer says it should be charging 14.1 consistently). This drop happens when the bike is running on a hot day with a hot motor. Is there a thermostat in the regulator that controls the heat or is it just the fins on the regulator that keeps it cool. And what happens if that thermostat fails.
@Rmstatorinc2 ай бұрын
Yes your bike should continue charging (well over 13V) even when hot. This sounds like a heat related failure. It is most likely to be your stator windings failing as they soak up heat (either opening or shorting to ground), but could also be the regulator. On an older bike I would recommend just replacing both at the same time to solve the problem.
