It's more similar to a keratin treatment. Brazilian blowout has formaldehyde in it. STS is to Keratin what Brazilian blowout is to relaxer if that makes sense.

By the way, you only have to carefully fill the bottle with water four times the first time you mixing it. After you have put product and the four bottles of water in the jug, take a sharpie marker and make a mark at the water level. Now next time, you can just pour the product into the jug, and then just fill it up to that line in the sink. I do the same thing in the spray bottle I use, but I only mix 4 ounces of solution at a time. I don't need to make a whole gallon, but I can see why that would be useful if you have a salon, or multiple people in your home who are using it.
