Suggestion: Check the aisle with framing hangers and tie plates (It's usually right there with the lumber). You're going to need more reinforcement without adding a lot more wood. Most are fairly cheap and will allow you to build things that would otherwise require a lot more material and/or engineering. There are dozens of types, and they'll often give you ideas. As for the paint: You can go over some of what you've done with UV-reactive paint. Craft stores like Michael's usually have a bunch in acrylic, and they'll make a static prop come to life. Regarding the stars: Those need to be pentagrams. The whole wheel probably should have been a pentagram (bc 4 baskets is too few and 8 is too many). And if you're going to put a star in a circle, then connect the lines. Put the "Evil" in "CarnEvil."

Spray paint is usually the wrong way to go, and especially the way you guys are doing it. A brush or roller is the more efficient method since most of the paint it just flying past the bars. If you do have to paint something like PVC pipe, then do the following: 1) Paint it before assembling the prop. There's less chance of getting the paint on parts that are going to be painted a different color. You can also put the material close together. If you set things up so the parts are suspended (e.g., just the ends touching something), you can paint about 90% at one time. 2) Use a brush, roller, or even wipe it on with gloves. Even if that method leaves a streaked finish, at least you're closer to a first coat that you can touch up later. 3) Take advantage of drips or over-spray. If you put the material (e.g., pipes) on top of other plywood to be painted the same color, then technically none of the paint is wasted; it just misses one thing and lands on something else you intended to paint. (I saw where the back of the plywood was being sprayed, and that's a good example.) I've done this with things where I'm painting for protection rather than "looks," like rebar I've cut into stakes for gravestones and props: Just lay them all out side-by-side on some plywood, and spray away. The plywood needed painting anyway. 4) Use primer. This will make the material last longer by sealing it. It will also save paint bc then the wood won't be drinking up the paint (which is usually more expensive, especially if it's a custom color). Additionally, if you use a bonding primer, you can also use, say, latex paint on PVC, which otherwise wouldn't stick for long. 5) Start with a color closer to the finish. In the case of PVC, you are trying to go from white to black, which is pretty hard since you often end up with some of the white showing through if you missing a spot or the paint gets chipped while handling the prop. You can instead use gray electrical conduit and have something closer to neutral. It's the same PVC, same price, same sizes, just an easier color to work with. If you're painting flat surfaces, then use a roller or even a brush. Almost anything is faster, cheaper, and more thorough than spray cans. Trust me; I've made the same mistakes as everyone else here when I did my first props.

Glad to see you two had a great time and according to your video it looks like a success for it's first year. But yes, it looks much, much smaller than the original Transworld in St Louis ( kind of like comparing a flea market to Disney World) . Some of the dealers, for example Ghost Ride had booths five times the size of this one. Plus like you mentioned they're were many walk through exhibits in St Louis. It literally took us three days to see everything, take it all in, talk to people, etc in St Louis. I'm not bagging on the EC show, but I love your channel and I know how much you two love Halloween, so you absolutely need to go to the St Louis show. Thanks again for sharing your video and looking for another great Halloween season. 🎃
