Very interesting, thankyou for sharing. I have four singles with the triangle centre, all with different lables, HMV, CBS, Brunswick and London Extended Play - singles I remember listening to as a child in Bulawayo. I had also been looking on Discogs to match up my old vinyls with items listed on there. A couple of them are listed, however, the centre labels are a different colour that are not listed. I assume it's because they were from Rhodesia, but have no idea how to find out. I don't know which vinyls were made in Rhodesia, South Africa or Britain and finding it hard to actually track down the origins. Many others are Gallo. As you pointed out there can be small differences that are tricky to spot unless you know where to look. It would be interesting to understand a little more about how the Record Companies operated then, particularly with sanctions.
@matthewvinyl11 күн бұрын
@@MsBonikki No problem! Thank you for watching! If some of those records are British they may say “Made In Gt.Britain” on the bottom of the labels, that’s what was typically done on British vinyl records. Triangle centres were only used in the UK in the 1950’s. Some pressings aren’t on Discogs, for example I’ve added some of my Rhodesian pressings onto discogs since they were missing from the database. On some runouts on Rhodesian pressings they can say “Made In S.Rhodesia”, some of your copies may have that, just remember that it wasn’t on every release. As mentioned in the video, pretty much all 45s that have the prong centre will be a South African pressing and Triangles will be Rhodesian. Thanks again for watching!

‘Friday on my mind’ and ‘Bring a little loving’ are two classic records that would probably make most people’s top 100 of 60’s singles, an era abundant with great songs. @@JamesTompkins87 Vinyl Records have been around for a very long time. Before Vinyl there was Shellac records that play at 78RPM, they were mass produced from around the late 1800’s to the late 1950’s. In 1949 the first Vinyl record was produced and from the late 1950’s they became the main way to listen to music, Vinyl records can play at 33 and a third RPM for albums and sometimes for singles and 45RPM is the main speed for singles. You can also find some Vinyl that plays at 78RPM though it is uncommon in the 60’s the first cassette tapes were produced and then in the 80’s the CD was released and it overtook Vinyl by the 90’s.
