Little Plastic Army Guys (their official title at my house) are my middle son's favorite thing on the planet. He has a drawer full at this point and plays with them frequently - out in the yard on a big pile of dirt, making cardboard boxes into hospitals, digging out bunkers, pitting the green guys against the tan guys, making up names for them, providing sound effects for their battles... Maybe he'll move on to something else eventually, but I'll keep his guys for him, because I know he'll want them back someday.

I had to comment eventually but this is by far the most effective asmr video I've ever listened to. I don't know what it is, but this one has knocked me into sleep every single time within 20 minutes. So ggs I guess.

I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate what you shared about how much this book meant to you as a kid. You really conveyed the beauty of the book and your images and soothing voice. I like what you did at the end with the pointer on the book cover - nice sounds!

I really appreciate that. There is a lot of nostalgia around this book for me, and I'm glad that some of that came through in the video. Best to you.

When a vinyl head pulls out Aja by Steely Dan to demo some hi-fi equipment you know you are dealing with a true disciple of good sounds. I'm not an audiophile by any means but I always love hearing the passion in folks who know their stuff and want to share with the world.

Thanks very much for checking in, I'm really glad you liked the video. I'm definitely not an audiophile either (certainly not in the way that most would define that word), but you can't go wrong with Aja. Like, ever. ;-) Best to you!

You know… I have a map (imitating an old map), made in leather, using pyrography technique. I bought it ages ago in Copacabana. It’s beautiful. It’s hanging on my living room’s wall.

As a toy soldier collector myself, it looks like your collection contains some Timmee soldiers (which are still being made and are quite popular), and also some Marx figures (which are NOT being made because the molds were lost). I notice some light-gray Marx Germans in the box too. Yes, like yourself I played with toy soldiers both indoors and out, and by myself as well as with friends. My favorites were the Lido G.I.'s; these were very robust figures with no bases but "pod feet" to make them stand up (well most of the time). Lido soldiers, incidentally, ARE being remade today because the original molds were preserved The KEY to the fun of toy soldiers is imagination and the ability to PRETEND. You don't need expensive models or high-priced toys because, using imagination, an old cardboard box can become a castle and a flowerpot can become darkest Africa.

You're right, those larger openings and pads would produce some great low sounds. I don't currently have a bari, but who knows? Thanks for the comment.
@banized73239 ай бұрын
I have a Bari and I’ll tell you, it is hard to get your hard to get your hands on one if you don’t have a local music store. It is worth it though. I have an old Keilwerth ST90 and the sound of the pads is so nice.

Thanks for the comment, Rafael! I checked out the Tim Mee web site, and it's very cool. Looks like several of their army man series are reissues of sets from the 1950's, which is really neat to see. Thanks for the reference!
