When I first strapped on a work pistol in 1983, revolvers were King. I've had many Semi-autos since, but, for Me, the revolver is still 🤴

Very well thought out, young sir. You said nothing I disagree with. I, too, have both. I carry both. The common factor with all my carry guns is no thumb safety. In colder weather with bulkier clothing I usually go with a 4 inch Peformance Center Shield in .45 acp. 8 in the gun, one 7 round reload, and the 642 airweight on my ankle. I'm 70 years old and am fortunate enough to not have to work anymore. Still very active and out and about most days. My manual labor days are done except for chores around home. In the summer, with the lighter clothing or when my back is acting up, it's a Sig 365xl with 13 9mm in the gun and a 17 round reload. Don't usually take the airweight along then. Last time I counted I have more revolvers than auto loaders. Most of my training and practice is with the revolvers. They'll always be my favorite. I cut my pistol teeth on a Ruger single six convertible. I still have it. Then the Army with the 1911A1 and .38 revolvers. I carry the auto loaders because they're lighter and easier to conceal than the K frames. Speedloaders are bulky. A Ruger gp100 7shot .357 lives in the car or truck. Like I said, I shoot the revolvers more. One of my favorite recreational guns is the 986 moon clip 9mm. Got a 625 moon clip .45 acp, too. Those guns are just fun to shoot. If you don't have one, you should get one. 9mm is still less expensive than .38. I've been a pistol instructor for several years. I used to work weekends at an indoor range till covid hit. There just wasn't as much to do and I let the younger guys have it because they needed the money. I already had one full time "essential" job. I still teach some at my range. I always have them work with one of the double action revolvers. Once they get that double action trigger press down, their semi auto shooting improves dramatically. Thanks for a well done video.

Get yours here- Brass Zippo- amzn.to/3ZRQnay Lighter Fluid, wicks, and flints- amzn.to/3ZPPGOV I only really use a lighter for lighting candles and smoking cigars. That being said, when I first got into cigars, a lot of folks on the internet said a Zippo would "mar" the taste of the cigar. That has NOT been my experience, and after spending hundreds on butane torches/ lighters and keeping them going, I'm going back to the simple and reliable (and cheap) Zippo life.

I love my 327 Ruger! You found what many of us have about 32 Auto in these revolvers-- The LCR will shoot them quite reliably. The SP101 will not. No idea what Ruger does differently between the two.
@ArchetypeofMan
@ArchetypeofMan 9 сағат бұрын
I'm not sure either. I haven't seen anything that would explain why the LCR can but not the SP101. Lol either way, I'd have to be REALLY hard up to resort to 32 ACP in a revolver. 🤣 I do love these guns!

I'm a self employed pool guy in Ga and I carry a 605 or an 856ulch snub in my pocket all day every day. Carry standard pressure 38 in 856 and +p in the 605. For some reason a snub in the pocket just works for my clothes. Like you landscapers we wear specific clothes, I'm always bending kneeling moving every which way all day every day. I like Carhartt overalls and it's like the pockets are built for a snub. I completely agree with control over horse power with my carry loads. I like the 158 grain standard pressure if I can find it. BTW Very good shooting in the opening of the video. I do have a full size .40 in the truck. My snub always with me I call it Roscoe 😂

It can shoot 32 acp with clips I'm told.
@ArchetypeofMan
@ArchetypeofMan 2 күн бұрын
No clips needed. It'll fire them just fine. What it WON'T do, is eject the cases as smoothly as the others because of the semi-rimmed design of the .32 ACP compared to the "fully" rimmed cases of the others. Would it work in a pinch? sure.

I've really enjoyed it. I've been using it on a variety of different hosts with good results. It's seen a lot of rimfire time compared to what my friends with NON-serviceable 5.56 cans are comfortable doing, understandably. I have yet to snag a 22-250 (not a huge priority for me) so I haven't shot it on one of those yet. But it's been a dream on 5.56 and 22 LR and 22 WMR

@@ArchetypeofMan Thanks for the reply and good news! Both of mine were just approved this week (took 8 days each). I can't wait. I have various 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 CM, and .308 hosts to try them on - some piston, but most are DI. Should be a good test of the 300 HD. I'm hoping the POI shift isn't too bad, but am expecting some adjustment is necessary. As long as its repeatable and suppression is acceptable I'll be happy. I got their Gen 2, so its with stainless only baffles, not the titanium with a stainless sacrificial baffle that they first released.

Federal HST is almost always my go to for two legged defense. That being said, anything in a jacketed hollow point from a reputable brand that hits to the sights is probably good. Even wadcutters typically will get the penetration recommended. Just find something you shoot accurately and quickly, that's reliable

I guess it's because I'm 70 years old that I don't like the Fudd thing. Not all of us old farts are Fudds. I don't like Glocks. That said, it's not because they're not good guns. They really are. I just don't fit them. I've got Smith and Wessons. Autos and revolvers, a couple of Sigs, a few Rugers. .22 rifles, shotguns, a Mini 14, AR, and an M1 carbine. 30 round magazines. Leather holsters, kydex, and combination holsters. I like them all. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting. What I don't like is youngsters that think they know it all. That doesn't include this young man. I'd actually enjoy spending some time with him.

Grip... I use the same grip for revolvers or self chuckers. If you have a gun with the correct grip angle you will not need to put your finger alongside of the frame... You may never shoot a revolver admittedly they do take a bit more skill to shoot but if you do.... you will cause severe damage to your finger. So your choice is to keep that silly grip and change it when you shoot a revolver or just chose a grip that works for both... but that requires you need a gun with a good grip angle and the ability to take advantage. I admit that I carry a Beretta 950B in 25 auto... all the time. it is my 'backup' which... we all know.. is the gun you have on you. my normal primary is my smith 340 PD in .357 I do not think that racking a pump shotgun will scare off a crazy. I do believe however that with 2 or maybe 3 (more are just standing around) I think that when that .357 round hits the first guy? The fight will be over... if they are all crazed PCP users? I still have four shots and god forbid the noisy crickett backup holding 9 rounds of 25 acp. by the time all that stuff is used up they are running from the sirens anyway. My holsters are.... a nylon sticky that fits in my front jeans pocket for my .340 PD Gun comes out holster stays. my holster for the Beretta (noisy Cricket) is the front shirt pocket of my western shirts. No one has ever spotted either of em.. can u say that? I am probly the most harmless 6' tall guy you have ever seen... just the way I like it. In the walk in on the bad guys robbing the place scenario? I really hope you are there for them to focus on. makes my life a lot easier if they are picking over your bones first. I am talking practical stuff here. not real glamorous I know. have you ever looked up the percent improvement in stopping a bad guy that you get from a double tap to the torso? Same for critters... One threat? sure.. swiss cheese him... multiples? one torso hit... each... come back to anyone who still feeling frisky...I mean..now that you have all the time in the world.

I would appreciate it if you would refer to me as Mr. Fudd! Been shooting and handloading and collecting and working on guns for eh... half a century? Before you ask.... no... I can't nor do I even want to be able to weild 2 plastic pistols and firing all 60 rounds while doing cartwheels. As a civilian which.... hate to burst your bubble but... which you are too.... I will never run into a situation on the street where I am attacked by 30 members of a cartel hit squad... nor will you.. nor will I run into a situation where I run into an actual threat which means fairly close range.... where I will miss 20 times in a row. You guys are missing at distances that I could throw the gun and make a hit. part of that is owning a glock so not really your fault? bear with me. you practice these outlandish situations ALWAYS using the sights. you take all the time to bring the gun up to eye level and then you use the sights and shoot some cardboard bad guy 8' away and call it 'training' for what I have no idea. The reality is.... that is not the way it will go. sorry. Nope... you will be pumped up and you will fire the milisecond you can. and you will miss. because you have a glock and have never actually looked at the gun. If the glock grip angle is correct then the human body is in error. simple as that. Now.. if you were to say 'hey.. I do this useless tacticool stuff cause I need it for the gun games I play' No problem. But that is not what you guys do. you obsess with endless impossible scenarios where you will take down the whole cartel hit squad by your lonesome I mean.. even if you can't frigging hip shoot a rattler at 3 yards. I can hip shoot. I can point shoot. I can use the sights from a rest or standing or sitting or whatever. my handgun targets range from 3 yards to 100 yards or more. different distances and scenarios require different methods duh... hell.. I would most likely be able to shoot you with the (gasp) revolver in my jacket pocket while you are still getting into your stance and aquiring the sights... you won't even have time to put on that steely eyed glaze. You won't be able take out mr rattler even. In fairness... shooting from a jacket pocket does ruin a jacket and it may even seem a bit 'unfair' gun games have rules. mr rattler or mr mean old rabid critter don't read rule books and my guess... just guessing here.... mr evil bad guy has not read the rule book either. I know this seems a bit mean spirited but in fairness I did not even mention your self inflicted ear mutilations.

I don't know if Colt does much hand-fitting or hand-tuning of the new Pythons, but the fact that this particular Python was unreliable only in double action suggests to me that they might have "overtuned" the trigger/hammer action, honing or polishing the parts to where the letoff in double action occurred just a bit early, before full cock. It wasn't taking advantage of the full weight of the mainspring. That's why replacing the mainspring corrected the problem. I tend to be wary of "performance" guns for this reason. Just my theory.

I have a 605 on my buy list. I like revolvers and the 605 fits my CCW requirements: concealable (hence 5 rds vs 6), light weight, hi-vis front sight and sufficient power. I would perhaps add ports. I will either load it with .38+p or .357 in a 110/125gr hollow point for defensive purposes. Thanks for the objective review.

I often carry a revolver because I lost some function in my left hand and arm due to cancer surgery and find a revolver more comfortable to operate one handed.

I am newer to carrying, and purchased a semi auto for my first gun. I love it.. but then I bought a 2 inch barrel 38 special and I realized I prefer the revolver. I tend to perform better with it overall, it conceals better, and is more comfortable for when I am actively moving around, hiking, working, etc.

I've had my TNC225R about 2.5 months (damned if DNT didn't come up with two new ones). Range time only, but DAMN is it a hoot!. I have it set up for my CZ American .17hmr, an AR15 in .223 Wlyde and 7.62x39 with the ballistics calculations. You can switch between platforms keeping zero and ballistic dialed in. The multifunction is intuitive and simple to understand. Be the predator, the ThermNight is an unfair advantage. It's an investment, not to be a gun safe queen.

I disagree with you that SA/DA revolvers should always be fired double action. If that was the case none of them would have accessible hammers. If I had to shoot defensively at a distance and I had the chance to cock it first from behind cover and shoot single action I'm going to do it for the potential for better accuracy.

For a gun that you need right now it’s definitely one of the best. For the rest of us that have better guns it’s a “meh…why not it’s cheap I’ll get 3”. Joking about getting 3 but not joking about just buying one just to have. I carry daily lately my Taurus 692 in 357 magnum with no problem. Traded my 605 for an upgrade years ago but I might just go and get a 605 from academy again.

The stance thing resonates. I took a defensive pistol course relatively recently with a Glock 19 and they "corrected" the Weaver stance I'd learned in my youth (S&W Model 10 and Sig P226). 😄

I bought one and it fell down 30 seconds after being on there. It’s no different than those stupid phone holders. The weight will pull it down. Now I have to debate with myself. Do I want to apply some gorilla glue or try to screw it into the truck? I might just remove it all together and use it inside. Screw it into the closet wall or something.

How's your experience with the eye-relief distance? The 225R is only 1.7 inches (45mm). That means to get a full viewfinder your eye has to be 1.7" from the eyepiece. That's really close. I've gotten used to the 3-4" relief on my other scopes and just couldn't get used to the difference. DNT has been great in allowing me to upgrade to the newer 335R - which has a 2.5" (65mm) relief.
