The Platypus is hands down the best duty gun I’ve carried. It runs 100%.reliable, fast and accurate. Fit and finish is outstanding and I am now magazine compatible with the other officers I work with. The hype is real. Hold off on buying anything else.

I ordered mine on October 17 it had a 14-16 week lead time. Received it on December 27th and have put 200 rounds through it in the last 2 days. Like you said the fit and finish are nice, I do wish they had chamfered the edge of the slide lock/release as it's a little sharp. I already had a Safariland 6378-56 holster (built for the Springfield Operator) to use. It took a little heat to remold and widen the area just behind the firing control and I removed the upper section of material near the ALS release. Works like a charm!

Got this pistol for myself as a duty pistol around chirstmas time, ive put just under 3000 rds through it. Performance is phenominal, but i have had 5 misfires (not simultaneously but in the same mag) take out the variable of ammo, because the trigger did not reset or drop. Grip safety was activated, safety off, and had already fired 6 rds out of my mag. * tug tug tug on the trigger * bang, fires. 4 more successive failure for trigger to reset after cycling but now it wont fire at all when tugging the trigger. >disassemble, clean meticulously. >goes back to working. That gun was freshly oiled and cleaned before that range visit; do you guys know what could cause this? Gun was in battery and functioning fine... this was a stock version and not customized.

@@jwats5713 I was also on the fence between the two, I went platypus. The thing that got me was the amount of customization I did on mine, and it came to $21XX. Did it cost more than the stacatto? Sure did. Was I able to have anywhere close to the same amount of customization with the stacatto? Nope, I wouldn't even say a fraction of the customizations. Also, lighter trigger, am unrivaled grip on the frame, extra prickle here. That's actually something I would advise against, I can't say I have soft hands, they definitely get used, abused, and put away dirty (figuratively). Man I made it 100 rounds before it got uncomfortable. Then I noticed my hand was actually bleeding. Yo be fair, the do advise against the extra prickle on the site. It is by far the most aggressive grip I have ever used in my life, it has so much grip it was CUTTING THROUGH CALLUS I just wear gloves with it now, which also gets chewed up. I wouldn't say I'm complaining, I do absolutely love it, and love shooting it, plus there's literally a warning about it lmao. @ArchetypeofManАй бұрын
This is cut for the 407k. At the time I ordered mine, it was the only optics cut available. I'm a 507c sized optic guy normally, so the smaller window took some getting used to, but it works well with the thinness of the slide, IMO.
@PhorB13Ай бұрын
@ArchetypeofMan i know that when you get something in the SRO/RMR cut, it actually appears to widen out at the rear of the slide. Now I'm on the fence.if I wanna go that route so the Platypus is different from my other 1911 OR if I wanan stick to something like 507K or EPS so it maintains the tinner slide? Thoughts?
@ArchetypeofManАй бұрын
@PhorB13 my only real concern with a wider sight is holster fitment- I have an M9A3 with a dot that's wider than the slide and it's fine. That being said- the holsters I have for the Platypus wouldn't have any issues with a wider area where the dot is.

The Platypus. A very clever mareting idea "...a 1911 that accepts GLOCK mags (hinges on the fact that most gunners have a few Glocks and a lot of GlLOCK mags). Only trouble with this idea...if we take a minute to think about it is.....most of us do not have our guns/mags near each other "mixed up"....e.g. if you have a GLOCK in your desk you'll have a few GLOCK mags...not 9911 mags......likewise, if you have a 1911 pistol on your body you're unlikely to also be carrying GLOCK magas...why would you? Or....1911 in the glove box --why would you also have a GLOCK gun/mags?? If you DO have both platforms too close to each other one day thigns willb e mixed up at hte wrong moment e.g. you're out of 1911 mags for your 1911...rach for that Glock mag...thinking it's for 1911 posotls...during that critical second...WHOOOPS1 BANG11 :) Want an affordable light gun--buy GLOCK Want the "best shooting/platform" pistol?--buy 1911 (that uses for 1911's mags ONLY) :))
